Arsenal vs Leeds United Prediction

Arsenal host Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium at 12:30am on Sunday NZT, with the Premier League finally back after an extended international break.

It’s the first league game for the champions since a 3-0 hammering at Brighton on 19 September. Leeds, meanwhile, arrive fifth and still unbeaten after five matches, which nobody at Elland Road would have dared predict in August.

In this Arsenal vs Leeds United preview, I dig into form and team news before getting to the result-and-goals double I’m backing at over $3.00.

If you’re after football tips that go beyond a short-priced home win, read on.

Arsenal vs Leeds United Analysis

Arsenal

I’m not reading too much into Arsenal’s result vs Brighton.

Arsenal were second best at the Amex, no argument there. Pascal Gross struck first on 31 minutes before Charalampos Kostoulas doubled it right on half-time, and Chema Andres headed in a Gross corner at the far post in the 57th minute.

Conceding from a corner was the part that surprised me, since dead balls are usually Arsenal’s strong suit.

But up until that afternoon they’d won four from four without much fuss. They beat Coventry City 3-0 on opening night and won at Aston Villa and Sunderland without conceding. Chelsea were the only side to score against them before the trip to the south coast.

Viktor Gyokeres looks in line to start up front, and I like the timing. He scored twice when these sides met at the Emirates on 23 August 2025, and I’m not sure Leeds have a defender who fancies a physical battle with him for 90 minutes.

Team News: Saliba and Tzolis are out. Konsa and Havertz are doubts. White, Mosquera and Hincapie are back in training. Rice withdrew from England duty and is expected to start.

Predicted Lineup: Raya; Timber, Mosquera, Gabriel, Calafiori; Rice, Lewis-Skelly; Saka, Odegaard, Eze; Gyokeres.

Leeds United

Leeds are a hard team to beat right now, and it’s no fluke.

They opened with a 1-0 win at the City Ground and haven’t lost a league game since, conceding just three goals all season. Their back three has coped well with injuries, and Daniel Farke hasn’t needed to tinker much.

The 4-1 win over Newcastle United on 14 September was the eye-catcher. Jayden Bogle and Dominic Calvert-Lewin both found the net in a three-goal first-half burst at Elland Road, and Noah Okafor volleyed in a fourth after the break.

Away from home they’ve been stubborn rather than dangerous, winning at Forest and drawing 1-1 at Brighton.

Leeds at $7.50 will tempt a few punters on the best online sports betting markets. I can’t get there myself.

Team News: Rodon and Joseph are out. Wilson and Bahoya are doubts.

Predicted Lineup: Trafford; Justin, Elvedi, Muharemovic; Bogle, Ampadu, Stach, Tanaka, Gudmundsson; Calvert-Lewin, Okafor.

Arsenal vs Leeds United Stats and Trends

  • Arsenal have won their last six Premier League meetings with Leeds.
  • Leeds have scored three goals across those six defeats.
  • Arsenal have scored in four of their five league games.
  • Leeds have failed to score in just one league game this season.
  • Arsenal have conceded four league goals, three of them at Brighton.

Arsenal vs Leeds United Prediction

I’m backing Arsenal, but it’s unlikely to be a rout.

Leeds have been too organised this season for them to leak five again. Farke will set them up to frustrate, and Arsenal haven’t always been patient against a deep block.

There’s some rust risk as well. Three weeks between league games is a long time, and Mikel Arteta is picking from a patched-up squad. I honestly don’t know how sharp Gyokeres will look either.

Still, I can’t see Leeds creating much. Most of their danger comes from balls into the box for Calvert-Lewin, and Gabriel is about as good a defender as there is for that job.

I’m going 2-0 to Arsenal, possibly with a set-piece goal in there after what happened at Brighton. A Leeds goal wouldn’t shock me, but I’d be surprised to see more than two goals in total.

Arsenal vs Leeds United - The Ultimate Bet

Arsenal to Win & Under 2.5 Goals @ $3.10

Two of Arsenal’s four league wins this season came by 1-0 or 2-0, and that’s the scoreline range I’m targeting.

Leeds haven’t conceded more than once in any league game yet. They’ve also kept two clean sheets, and the 4-1 against Newcastle is the only match involving them that’s gone past two goals.

Arsenal haven’t been running up cricket scores either. Coventry are the only team they’ve put three past.

I’m taking the $3.10 on this one with the best legal sports betting sites NZ punters can access.
