Champions League: Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid - Betting Tips, Odds & Prediction

Champions League: Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid
Bayern Munich and Real Madrid meet at the Allianz Arena on Thursday morning New Zealand time in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final, with Bayern leading 2-1 on aggregate after Luis Diaz and Harry Kane scored either side of half-time at the Bernabeu.
Kylian Mbappe pulled one back late, so Madrid have an away goal and a pulse. But they need to win in Munich to go through.
In this Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid preview, I’ve dug into the form and team news. I’ve got a play at better than $2.00 for those checking out football betting tips ahead of this one.
Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid Analysis
Bayern Munich
Bayern are having one of those seasons. One Bundesliga loss all year and 105 league goals - a new record. Harry Kane was rested for the 5-0 hammering of St Pauli at the weekend, with Jamal Musiala, Michael Olise and Nicolas Jackson all getting on the scoresheet instead.
I was impressed with how they set up at the Bernabeu. Joshua Kimmich and Aleksandar Pavlovic controlled the middle, and Olise was a nightmare for Alvaro Carreras down the right. Serge Gnabry did the unglamorous work on the other side and still picked up the assist for Diaz’s opener.
Kane scoring 20 seconds into the second half on his return from an ankle issue was telling. He’s got 49 goals in all competitions this season. I don’t think he’ll be held back here.
At home, Bayern have won their last six. Manuel Neuer’s nine saves in the first leg were vintage. Lennart Karl is the only notable absentee through a hamstring tear.
Team News: Karl (hamstring) is out. Kane was rested at the weekend and will start. Ulreich, Kiala, Santos and Wisdom Mike are also unavailable.
Predicted Lineup: Neuer; Stanisic, Upamecano, Tah, Laimer; Kimmich, Pavlovic; Olise, Musiala, Diaz; Kane.
Real Madrid
Madrid are in trouble. One win from their last four and a La Liga title race that’s all but gone. Now they need to overturn a deficit at the Allianz Arena with a reshuffled midfield.
That 1-1 with Girona on Friday - where Federico Valverde picked up two yellows and they couldn’t hold a lead with 10 men - summed up the mood. Mbappe took a blow to the face in that match but is expected to be available. He’s scored 14 Champions League goals this season and if anyone can drag Madrid back into this tie, it’s him or Vinicius Junior.
Vinicius couldn’t beat Neuer one-on-one in the first leg. That miss in the 61st minute was massive.
Losing Aurelien Tchouameni to suspension hurts. Eduardo Camavinga is the natural replacement, and Jude Bellingham should start after coming off the bench in the first leg. But, I’m not convinced those two can handle Bayern’s press without Tchouameni anchoring.
Thibaut Courtois is still out, meaning Andriy Lunin continues in goal. He’s been decent, but he’s not Courtois.
Team News: Tchouameni (suspended) and Courtois (thigh) are out. Rodrygo (ACL) is long-term. Mendy is back. Mbappe expected fit. Ceballos returned to training.
Predicted Lineup: Lunin; Alexander-Arnold, Militao, Rudiger, Mendy; Camavinga, Bellingham; Valverde, Guler, Vinicius; Mbappe.
Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid Stats and Trends

- Bayern have advanced in 12 of 13 CL ties when winning the first leg on the road.
- Real Madrid won the last four two-legged CL ties against Bayern before this one.
- Neuer’s nine saves in the first leg were his most in a CL game since 2022.
- Bayern are unbeaten in 16 consecutive matches across all competitions.
Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid Prediction
I fancy Bayern to see this out.
They’ve got the aggregate lead and they’re at the Allianz Arena, which is about as hostile a venue as it gets in European football. Madrid have come back from worse in this competition - everyone knows that - but without Courtois or Tchouameni, and with Rodrygo done for the season, this doesn’t feel like the squad that pulled off those late Bernabeu miracles.
I think Madrid score. Mbappe and Vinicius are too good to go 90 minutes without finding the net. But I don’t see them getting two without reply, which is what they need to force extra time.
2-1 Bayern on the night, 4-2 on aggregate. If you’re on betting apps NZ for this one, the goals angle is where I’d look.

Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid - The Ultimate Bet
Both Teams to Score and Over 2.5 Goals @ $2.10
Both teams scored at the Bernabeu, and that pattern has held across 13 straight Champions League meetings between these clubs. Madrid have to attack - they can’t defend deep when trailing on aggregate. And Bayern have conceded in every one of those 13 meetings against Madrid too.
Bayern at home in the Champions League aren’t going to hold back. They’ve averaged 3.6 goals per game this season and Kane will be fresh after his weekend rest. With Madrid forced forward, Bayern will get chances on the counter through Olise and Diaz.
Three or four goals, both sides scoring. At $2.10, and with free bets available on several New Zealand bookmakers, it’s the play I’m going with.
