Premier League: Brighton vs Arsenal

Brighton take on league leaders Arsenal at the American Express Stadium on Thursday morning New Zealand time in a Premier League fixture that could have title implications at one end and mid-table consequences at the other.

Arsenal sit five points clear at the top and have been ruthless since late January, while Brighton are trying to build on back-to-back wins after a torrid six-game winless run. In this Brighton vs Arsenal preview, I run through the form, stats, and key absences shaping this midweek clash.

Read until the end where I’ve got a $4.50 bet on New Zealand betting sites that I’m confident will cash this week.

Brighton vs Arsenal Analysis

Brighton

Brighton have turned a corner after their shocking run in February.

Two wins from two - against Brentford (2-0) and Nottingham Forest (2-1) - have pulled them up to 11th on 37 points from 28 matches. Before that, they’d gone six without a victory, including four straight defeats. Diego Gomez scored a stunner against Forest, and it feels like a little bit of the magic is back.

At home, Brighton have only lost twice in the league all season. But don’t get too excited: they’ve also only won two of their last eight at the Amex. Draws have been far too common, in large part because they’re poor at keeping a clean sheet (just one in their last 10 Premier League fixtures). Against an Arsenal attack that’s scored 14 goals in six away league matches in 2026, I’d be worried

Team News: Adam Webster (knee) and Stefanos Tzimas (ACL) are long-term absentees. Mats Wieffer is a doubt after coming off against Forest, meaning Joel Veltman could slot in at right-back. Yasin Ayari is back in training and could feature, while Kaoru Mitoma and Yankuba Minteh are carrying knocks.

Predicted Lineup: Verbruggen; Veltman, Van Hecke, Dunk, Kadioglu; Hinshelwood, Baleba, Gross; Gomez, Welbeck, Mitoma.

Arsenal

Arsenal are firing on all cylinders this year. They’re now six league games unbeaten since their January loss to Man Utd, which includes their recent thrashing of Spurs and a tight win over Chelsea 2-1 at the weekend.

With 19 wins from 29 games and the best defensive record in the division, they’re the clear favorites to take out the title this season. But there’s one little issue heading into this match: Arsenal’s three evening Premier League kick-offs in 2026 have all finished as draws. This one at Brighton kicks off at 7:30pm GMT.

Coincidence, or is there something in this?

Team News: Declan Rice hobbled off against Chelsea and is a major doubt. Martin Odegaard missed that match with a knee issue and is also uncertain, while Ben White is carrying a knock. Mikel Merino (foot) is out long-term. Christian Norgaard is the likely midfield deputy if Rice misses out. David Raya is expected to be fit.

Predicted Lineup: Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Hincapie; Norgaard, Zubimendi; Saka, Havertz, Martinelli; Gyokeres.

Brighton vs Arsenal Stats and Trends

  • Arsenal are unbeaten in their last five Premier League meetings with Brighton.
  • Brighton haven’t won any of their last five home PL games against Arsenal.
  • Arsenal have scored 14 goals in six away league matches in 2026, averaging 2.3 per game.
  • Both teams have scored in four of Brighton’s last five home league fixtures.
  • Brighton have kept just one clean sheet in their last 10 Premier League outings.

Brighton vs Arsenal Prediction

I’m sus about that evening kick off record, but I can’t get past an Arsenal win here.

That said, Rice and Odegaard are two of the most important players in their squad, and losing either changes the dynamic. If both are missing, Arsenal’s midfield control takes a hit, and Brighton are the sort of side that’ll press high and make it uncomfortable. Keep an eye on live betting sites should either be a late omission - I might be changing my pick to a draw.

Still, Brighton’s defensive numbers are poor, and Arsenal’s set pieces alone should do serious damage (Saliba and Timber both scored headers against Chelsea). I’m backing Arsenal to win, 2-1 or 3-1.

Brighton vs Arsenal - The Ultimate Bet

Arsenal to Win and Both Teams to Score @ $4.50

Arsenal have won three of their last five league meetings with Brighton, and all three of those victories saw both sides score. Brighton have found the net in four of their last five home games, and Welbeck’s 10 league goals show they carry a real threat going forward.

On the flip side, Arsenal have conceded in their last three away league draws this year, and a weakened midfield makes them more vulnerable than usual. Brighton have only been shut out once at the Amex in the last 10 league matches.

At $4.50 with Sportaza, you’re getting strong odds on the most likely winning team combined with goals at both ends. For anyone keen on football tips ahead of this clash, that’s the play I’ll be betting on.
