Brighton
Brighton have turned a corner after their shocking run in February.
Two wins from two - against Brentford (2-0) and Nottingham Forest (2-1) - have pulled them up to 11th on 37 points from 28 matches. Before that, they’d gone six without a victory, including four straight defeats. Diego Gomez scored a stunner against Forest, and it feels like a little bit of the magic is back.
At home, Brighton have only lost twice in the league all season. But don’t get too excited: they’ve also only won two of their last eight at the Amex. Draws have been far too common, in large part because they’re poor at keeping a clean sheet (just one in their last 10 Premier League fixtures). Against an Arsenal attack that’s scored 14 goals in six away league matches in 2026, I’d be worried
Team News: Adam Webster (knee) and Stefanos Tzimas (ACL) are long-term absentees. Mats Wieffer is a doubt after coming off against Forest, meaning Joel Veltman could slot in at right-back. Yasin Ayari is back in training and could feature, while Kaoru Mitoma and Yankuba Minteh are carrying knocks.
Predicted Lineup: Verbruggen; Veltman, Van Hecke, Dunk, Kadioglu; Hinshelwood, Baleba, Gross; Gomez, Welbeck, Mitoma.
Arsenal
Arsenal are firing on all cylinders this year. They’re now six league games unbeaten since their January loss to Man Utd, which includes their recent thrashing of Spurs and a tight win over Chelsea 2-1 at the weekend.
With 19 wins from 29 games and the best defensive record in the division, they’re the clear favorites to take out the title this season. But there’s one little issue heading into this match: Arsenal’s three evening Premier League kick-offs in 2026 have all finished as draws. This one at Brighton kicks off at 7:30pm GMT.
Coincidence, or is there something in this?
Team News: Declan Rice hobbled off against Chelsea and is a major doubt. Martin Odegaard missed that match with a knee issue and is also uncertain, while Ben White is carrying a knock. Mikel Merino (foot) is out long-term. Christian Norgaard is the likely midfield deputy if Rice misses out. David Raya is expected to be fit.
Predicted Lineup: Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Hincapie; Norgaard, Zubimendi; Saka, Havertz, Martinelli; Gyokeres.
