Football Multi Bet: $10.38 Tip for Wednesday

Two Champions League quarter-final second legs on Wednesday morning NZT, and I’ve pulled three tips from them. Barcelona need to chase a two-goal deficit, which gives us a match result and a goals market at decent odds on NZ betting sites. Liverpool at Anfield is the riskier pick, but it’s the one I’m most excited about.

Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona

Wednesday April 15, 7:00am NZT, Riyadh Air Metropolitano

Barcelona lost the first leg 0-2 at Camp Nou after Pau Cubarsi’s red card changed everything. Julian Alvarez curled in a stunning free kick and Alexander Sorloth added a second - but Barcelona were the better side for 40 minutes before the dismissal and created chances even with ten men.

Cubarsi is suspended for the return and Raphinha is injured, so Barcelona aren’t at full strength. But they’ve won five of their last six, including a 4-1 result against Espanyol at the weekend and a 2-1 La Liga win over Atletico 10 days ago. A draw knocks them out, so they’ll attack from the first minute - and I think that produces goals at both ends. Eight of the last 10 meetings between these sides have gone over 2.5 goals.

I’m backing Barcelona for the 90-minute win and over 2.5 as two of my football tips for this multi.

Atletico have lost four of their last five across all competitions, including a 1-2 defeat to Sevilla on Saturday. Diego Simeone’s side will defend deep, but I don’t see them shutting out Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski for 90 minutes when Barcelona have nothing to lose.

Liverpool vs PSG

Wednesday April 15, 7:00am NZT, Anfield

I’m not pretending this isn’t a gamble. PSG won the first leg 2-0 in Paris through Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Liverpool were passive throughout.

But Anfield for a European knockout is a different equation. Liverpool beat Fulham 2-0 in their most recent outing and I think Arne Slot’s side will come out aggressive. Whether they can overturn the aggregate is a separate question, but for the 90-minute result I think they’re good value at $3.30. PSG won’t fold easily - they’re the defending champions - but protecting a lead at Anfield has never been straightforward for visiting sides.

Liverpool scored in every home Champions League game during the league phase this season, putting six past Qarabag and three past Marseille among others. Mohamed Salah has nine goals in the competition and tends to thrive when the occasion demands it.

I’m not confident they’ll go through on aggregate, but winning this game? I think they do that. I’d get it on early at new betting sites before the odds shift.
