Chelsea
The pressure was on Enzo Maresca’s men after they were held to a goalless draw by Crystal Palace at home in their Premier League opener. Football betting sites, however, still had faith in the reigning Club World Cup champions and they delivered at London Stadium last weekend.
Chelsea had the perfect opportunity to bounce back as they faced a bruised West Ham that received a 3-0 hammering at Stadium of Light. Needless to say, they took it.
Even without Cole Palmer, Chelsea had no problem cutting through the West Ham midfield and defence. While West Ham’s poor tactics and performance played a big part, the 5-1 victory will do wonders for Chelsea’s confidence nonetheless.
Team News: Palmer is expected to miss out again as he struggles with a groin injury.
Predicted Lineup: Sanchez; Gusto, Chalobah, Adarabioyo, Cucurella; Caicedo, Fernandez; Estevao, Pedro, Neto, Delap.
Fulham
Fulham are still winless in the league, but Marco Silva’s side are yet to taste defeat as well. They have to deal with an EFL Cup second-round assignment with Bristol City beforehand, but the priority should be their upcoming battle against their fellow West Londoners.
Betting apps in NZ had almost paid out bets on Brighton when Fulham salvaged a late point, thanks to a Rodrigo Muniz goal. They seemed to be on the backfoot against Manchester United too, but Emile Smith Rowe handed them a lifeline.
There’s room for improvement, but Fulham have escaped defeat so far. They will even consider themselves unlucky not to have taken more than a point against a lacklustre United side at home.
Team News: Fulham don’t have any fresh injury concerns as of writing, but that could change after the EFL Cup match against Bristol on Thursday.
Predicted Lineup: Leno; Tete, Andersen, Cuenca, Bassey; Berge, Lukic; Traore, Smith Rowe, Iwobi; Muniz.
