Chelsea
Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea can make history as the first English side to win the Club World Cup twice. But a defeat on Sunday would also make them the first club to lose two finals, having fallen to Corinthians in 2012.
Chelsea might not be the favourites across football betting sites, but it’s difficult to rule Chelsea out completely. They have won two Champions League titles as underdogs in the past, and if history repeats, the Blues could well produce another historic upset.
That said, they’ve had a bit of luck with the draw. Chelsea only had to get past one European side in the knockout phase, the same of which can’t be said for plenty of other quality sides this year.
Team News: Joao Pedro can expect to keep his place in the starting XI after his brilliant performance against Fluminense.
Predicted Lineup: Sanchez; Gusto, Chalobah, Adarabioyo, Cucurella; Palmer, Caicedo, Enzo; Nkunku, Pedro, Neto.
PSG
PSG cemented themselves as favourites across betting apps to win the Club World Cup after their dominant 4–0 win over Atletico Madrid in the opening round. And for the most part, Luis Enrique’s men have lived up to expectations.
Other than a shock loss to Botafogo, PSG have been unstoppable. They have hammered Inter Miami, cruised past Bayern, and tore through Real Madrid 4–0 in the semi-finals with three early goals.
PSG have been dominant on both ends of the pitch. They have registered six clean-sheets and have conceded only once, which was against Botafogo in the group stages. The Ligue 1 powerhouse will surpass Bayern Munich’s tournament-high tally of 14 goals if they find the back of the net against Chelsea.
Team News: Willian Pacho and Lucas Hernandez will remain unavailable, so Entrique is expected to field the same lineup he used in the Real Madrid match.
Predicted Lineup: Donnarumma; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Beraldo, Mendes; Neves, Vitinha, Ruiz; Doue, Dembele, Kvaratskhelia.
