Crystal Palace return to Selhurst Park on Sunday, hoping to bounce back from their defeat at Goodison Park as they face AFC Bournemouth.

Palace were the only unbeaten side in the Premier League as recently as the first week of October. That record ended in Everton, but their home form remains strong, with no losses at Selhurst Park since February.

Bournemouth should be a tricky test, however. They have gone unbeaten since their opening-day loss to Liverpool.

Crystal Palace

Oliver Glasner has exceeded expectations since taking over from Roy Hodgson in February, 2024. The Austrian manager has won almost half of the matches he has overseen at Palace, but he had to suffer a difficult trip to Goodison Park last time around. 

Daniel Munoz handed Glasner’s side the lead, but Everton equalised via Iliman Ndiaye. Jack Grealish scored a stoppage time goal to hand Crystal Palace their first defeat in 19 matches.

AFC Bournemouth

Bournemouth produced a late spree of goals to overturn a 1-0 deficit against Fulham most recently. Antoine Semenyo scored on either side of Justin Kluivert’s long-range strike to maintain Bournemouth’s unbeaten run since the opening day. 

After their 3-1 win, Bournemouth are fourth in the standings with 14 points. Betting apps in NZ should slash the odds for Andoni Iraola's side claiming a European spot at the end of the season soon if they can continue this form. 

Coming out of the Selhurst Park trip unscathed would be a big statement for Bournemouth, and they will be looking forward to the challenge.

This will be a tactical battle between two managers who have transformed their sides. Iraola had to let go of three of his first-choice back four in the summer, and also his first-choice goalkeeper. He also lost his third highest non-penalty goal scorer. 

Bournemouth fans were prepared for a season of transition, but the team has treated them to a much brighter start than expected. They have won three of their first four matches for the first time in their top-flight history. 

After finishing 12th and ninth under Iraola, Bournemouth are setting their sights even higher this season. Now they come across a team that has shown even more impressive progress under their new manager. 

Glasner has made Palace incredibly tough to beat and led them to FA Cup and Community Shield success. Since both teams are defensively solid, expect them to play out a low-scoring draw.
