UEFA Women’s Euro 2025: England vs Italy

As they stand two wins away from lifting the trophy, England and Italy are set to battle it out in the UEFA Euro 2025 at Stade de Geneve in Lancy, Switzerland.

The defending European champions will make it to their third successive major international final if they can get past Italy this week. Le Azzurre, on the other hand, will step out in the pitch to play a Euro semi-final for the first time in 28 years.

England vs Italy Analysis

England

England were uncharacteristically shaky in their first 45 minutes against Sweden in the quarter-finals. Blagult raced to a 2-0 lead in the first half, leaving Sarina Wiegman's side a mountain to climb in the second.

Football betting sites had lengthened the odds for an England comeback in the live betting market at that point. Lucy Bronze and Michelle Agyemang struck in quick succession in the second half to take the match into extra-time, and then penalties. Hannah Hampton then produced a goalkeeping masterclass to send England to the semis.

Team News: Leah Williamson had to limp off the match after picking up an ankle injury. The England skipper will face a late fitness test ahead of the match.

Predicted Lineup: Hampton; Bronze, Morgan, Carter, Greenwood; Stanway, Walsh, Toone; James, Hemp, Russo.

Italy

Italy finished second to Spain in Group B, just as the odds on betting apps had predicted, to book their place in the knockouts. They were also the favourites to get past Norway in the quarter-finals, and once again, they lived up to expectations.

Cristiana Girelli scored twice to secure a 2-1 win for her team. Only Spain’s Esther Gonzalez now has scored more goals than the Italian captain at the 2025 UEFA Women’s Euro.

After executing their gameplan perfectly against Norway, Italy will fancy their chances of causing an upset to reach the final for the first time since 1997.

Team News: Italy did not pick up any injuries in the quarter-finals, so expect an unchanged first XI.

Predicted Lineup: Giuliani; Di Guglielmo, Salvai, Linari; Oliviero, Caruso, Giugliano, Severini, Bonansea; Girelli, Cantore.

England vs Italy Stats and Trends

  • England and Italy have met 32 times before and none of those meetings ended goalless.
  • England won in seven of their last 10 matches against Italy.
  • England have scored 13 goals in four matches in this tournament, while Italy have scored only five.

England vs Italy Prediction

England were far from convincing defending against France and Sweden’s pacey attack in this tournament. The English backline might face a similar test against Italy, even though they have scored more than twice only once in this tournament.

Andrea Soncin's team was incredibly fast in transitions and moved up and down the pitch with great effectiveness. Italy should also look to restrict English full-backs Lucy Bronze and Alex Greenwood by staying wide in the pitch.

England have been one of the most prolific teams in the tournament, but breaking down Italy’s defensive structure might be difficult. But we believe they have enough firepower to nick a winning goal in this match. We expect this to be a close fight, but England should go through in a low scoring affair.

England vs Italy - The Ultimate Bet

England 1-0 Italy @ $8.00

England hammered five past Italy the last time these two sides met, but the stakes are far higher this time around. Italy have displayed solid defensive organisation throughout the tournament, though they did ship three goals against Spain and have managed just one clean sheet in three matches. All things considered, backing a 1-0 win for England at 20Bet at odds of $8.00 looks like excellent value.
