Norway
Norway has a deep pool of talent, so it’s surprising that they still had to watch from the sidelines during recent major tournaments. Erling Haaland and Martin Odegaard are the headliners, but the media often fails to mention that Norway have a supporting cast scattered across Europe’s top leagues.
That said, Norway making the 2026 World Cup finals is one of the safest options to bet on football right now. They’ve taken maximum points from their opening five fixtures and looked ruthless in their last outing, thrashing Moldova 11–1.
Team News: Odegaard has withdrawn from the Norwegian squad after picking up a medial collateral ligament injury while playing for Arsenal.
Predicted Lineup: Nyland; Wolfe, Ostigard, Ajer, Ryerson; Myhre, Berge, Aasgaard; Schjelderup, Haaland, Bobb.
Israel
Israel made their first World Cup finals appearance in 1970, but since then, they have failed to return to the Greatest Show on Earth. That drought, however, could soon be over. Israel sit third in Group I with nine points from five matches—level with Italy, who still have a game in hand.
The Chosen Team, though, will believe they’re still in the mix. Ran Ben Shimon’s side have already done the double over Estonia and thumped Moldova 4-0, and while they fell to Norway on home soil, an upset in the return fixture would throw the race for qualification wide open.
Team News: FC Twente centre-back Stav Lemkin is expected to miss out as he is struggling with an injury issue.
Predicted Lineup: Da. Peretz; Dasa, Shlomo, Nachmias, Revivo; Do. Peretz, E. Peretz; Biton, Gloukh, Solomon; Baribo.
