Premier League: Nottingham Forest vs Manchester United

Nottingham Forest welcome Manchester United on Sunday morning, in what could have been a battle of two underperformers a few weeks ago. Ruben Amorim’s men, however, have turned things around with some positive results. Their hosts this weekend have not been as lucky, though.

Betting sites in NZ were expecting a new manager bounce from the Tricky Trees last week. But Sean Dyche - the third tactician Forest have turned to this season - could not help them avoid another defeat at home.

Can Forest take a leaf out of United’s book and arrest their slump? Read on for our Nottingham Forest vs Manchester United preview and betting tips.

Nottingham Forest vs Manchester United Analysis

Nottingham Forest

A very few would have foreseen Nottingham Forest slipping into the relegation zone when they  beat Brentford at City Ground in their opening match this season. They were a stable side under Nuno Espirito Santo, but the Portuguese surprisingly left the club after three matches because of differences with the club’s hierarchy. Since then, results have gone downhill.

Ange Postecoglou, who guided Spurs to Europa League glory last season, was brought in as the new man at the helm. But his tenure was short-lived. The club management showed him the door only eight matches in.

Now Sean Dyche has taken over. Despite Forest’s defeat to Bournemouth, there are encouraging signs, not least their 2-0 Europa League win over Porto. It might just tempt a few punters to back them on football betting sites.

Team News: Ola Aina is the only notable injury absentee for the hosts in this match.

Predicted Lineup: Sels; Savona, Murillo, Morato, Milenkovic, Williams; Anderson, Sangare, Luiz; Gibbs-White, Wood.

Manchester United

“We believe we can respond to challenges and solve problems on the pitch, and that confidence helps us win games. But three weeks ago, things looked very different, and it can change again just as quickly,”  Amorim said ahead of this match.

The United boss can sense that the team feels different from all the doom and gloom a few weeks back. But, he wants to be cautiously optimistic. All the progress can collapse like a house of cards if they run into some bad results again.

United have now won three Premier League matches in a row, and broke into the top-six after hovering around the relegation zone earlier in the season. These are still early days, but betting apps in NZ are showing more faith in them in recent weeks.

Team News: Harry Maguire remains a doubt with a knock.

Predicted Lineup: Lammens; De Ligt, Dorgu, Shaw; Amad, Casemiro, Fernandes, Dalot; Mbeumo, Cunha; Sesko.

Nottingham Forest vs Manchester United Prediction

City Ground has not been a happy hunting ground for Manchester United. They have lost there in their last two visits. History does have some encouragement for them though - United have not lost three straight away matches at Nottingham Forest since the 1960s.

Bournemouth were too much to handle for Dyche’s men. United are yet to show that kind of intensity, but they are definitely a side on the up.

We believe Forest can put up a better defensive display this time around, more similar to a traditional Dyche side, and grind out a draw against United.

Nottingham Forest vs Manchester United - The Ultimate Bet

Forest 0-0 United @ $15.00

Despite United’s poor start to the season, Arsenal and Manchester City are the only sides that managed to stop them from scoring in the league so far. But if Dyche wants to grind out a draw, it will be difficult for United to break Forest down. We think Forest will want to steady the ship with a draw, so we expect a dull, goalless affair. There’s nothing boring about the returns on this punt though, with Sportaza pricing it at $15.
