Champions League: Paris Saint-Germain vs Arsenal

Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal return to their Champions League campaign for the second leg of their semi-final clash, with PSG hoping to maintain their 1-0 lead when they meet on Thursday at Parc des Princes.

Betting sites in NZ have some exciting deals lined up for this game, and we have gone through them to find the best ones. Both sides will be looking to bounce back from their league losses over the weekend, but the pressure will be on the visitors as they enter the clash a goal down.

That said, the fate of the tie is still far from decided. Read on to find out what to expect from the game and discover the most logical betting tips.

PSG vs Arsenal Analysis

PSG

Despite being heavily favoured by football betting sites, PSG fell to a 2-1 defeat at Stade de la Meinau in their latest Ligue 1 match against Strasbourg. However, Luis Enrique has no reason to press the panic button with the league title already secured. The PSG boss made 10 changes to the side against Strasbourg, giving his key players a well-earned rest.

Ousmane Dembele and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia shone at the Emirates last week, but it was Gianluigi Donnarumma, who kept their lead intact with some incredible saves.

Team News: Left out of the squad to face Strasbourg, Dembele is in a race against time to recover from a hamstring issue. Enrique is hopeful he’ll return before Arsenal come to town.

Predicted Lineup: Donnarumma; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Mendes; Ruiz, Vitinha, Neves; Barcola, Dembele, Kvaratskhelia.

Arsenal

Arsenal chose to make only two changes on the weekend even though their title chances were officially put to bed by Liverpool a week ago. But the decision backfired, as they slumped to a home defeat against Bournemouth.

Declan Rice found the net in his 100th appearance for the Gunners, but goals from Dean Huijsen and Evanilson turned the tie around. Mikel Arteta now must find a way to revitalise his team ahead of their crucial visit to Parc des Princes.

Bukayo Saka was a livewire in the first match, but he will hope for more support from his fellow attackers in Paris.

Team News: Thomas Partey returns to the Arsenal midfield after serving a one-match suspension. Jurrien Timber, who missed the Bournemouth clash with a knock, is still awaiting clearance to feature in Paris.

Predicted Lineup: Raya; White, Saliba, Kiwior, Lewis-Skelly; Odegaard, Rice, Partey; Saka, Merino, Martinelli.

PSG vs Arsenal Stats and Trends

  • Arsenal have never won an away match against Paris Saint-Germain.
  • Both of Arsenal’s past two visits at PSG ended in one-all draws.
  • Arsenal have beaten PSG twice in previous meetings, but the French side claimed their first win over the Gunners last week.
  • In the last two meetings between these sides, only the winning team managed to find the net.

PSG vs Arsenal Prediction

PSG have the upper hand in this battle as they bring a first leg 1-0 lead to this match. Dembele’s early goal at the Emirates will be enough for PSG to go through if they can hold the Gunners to a stalemate in this match.

Defence, however, remains a concern for the Parisians. While they returned home with a clean-sheet from London last week, it was only their second one in 10 games.

Arsenal did catch the PSG backline off-guard a few times, but failed to capitalise. With Partey coming back to the midfield, Arteta’s men should establish more control in midfield and create scoring opportunities more often.

But, PSG also have incredible strength in their attack and should be able to find the back of the net against Arsenal at home. We believe this clash is most likely to end in a draw with both teams scoring.

PSG vs Arsenal – The Ultimate Bet:

PSG 2-2 Arsenal - $13.00

Bet365 is offering odds of $13.00 for this clash to end in a 2-2 draw. Arsenal will be desperate to score and we believe they have the tools to beat Donnarumma this time. But this will also make them more vulnerable to PSG’s counter-attacks. So, we are confident that this will end in a 2-2 stalemate.
