PSG
PSG won their first Champions League title last month by dismantling Inter Milan 5-0 in the final. They kept their foot on the gas as they arrived in America for the Club World Cup, thrashing Atletico Madrid at Rose Garden in their tournament opener.
But contrary to what the odds on football betting sites predicted, PSG came crashing back down to earth in their second match. Brazilian Serie A side Botafogo stunned them with a superb performance, sealed by a decisive goal from Igor Jesus.
Luis Enrique’s side kept their composure and returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over the Seattle Sounders. Goals from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Achraf Hakimi secured top spot in Group B for the Parisians.
Team News: Ousmane Dembele is expected to recover from his thigh injury and return to the PSG starting XI.
Predicted Lineup: Donnarumma; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Mendes; Ruiz, Vitinha, Neves; Doue, Dembele, Kvaratskhelia.
Inter Miami
With Porto and Palmeiras in the group, many pre-tournament football betting tips predicted that Miami wouldn’t make it out of the group stage.
Those concerns grew after Miami failed to win what was considered their easiest match on paper. Javier Mascherano’s side were fortunate to avoid defeat against Egyptian outfit Al-Ahly, thanks to a missed penalty by David Trezeguet.
However, a brilliant performance against Portuguese powerhouse Porto in the second match - topped off by a magical Messi free kick - earned them an unexpected 2-1 win. They followed up that display with another outstanding showing against Palmeiras, with a 2-2 draw squeaking them through to the next phase of the tournament.
Team News: Miami will have to make do again without goalkeeper Drake Callender and defender Gozalo Lujan in this game.
Predicted Lineup: Ustari; Weigandt, Aviles, Falcon, Allen; Allende, Redondo, Busquets, Segovia; Messi, Suarez.
