Champions League: PSG vs Liverpool - Betting Tips, Odds & Prediction

UEFA Champions League: PSG vs Liverpool
Defending champions PSG host Liverpool at the Parc des Princes on Thursday morning New Zealand time in a Champions League quarter-final first leg that could define both clubs’ seasons.
This is a rematch of last year’s round of 16, where PSG knocked Liverpool out on penalties. A lot has changed since then - PSG went on to lift the trophy, while Liverpool have gone the other direction. In this PSG vs Liverpool preview, I’m looking at form and a couple of angles I reckon are underpriced on football betting sites.
PSG vs Liverpool Analysis
PSG
PSG have won four on the bounce, and the manner of those victories is what stands out. They dismantled Chelsea 8-2 across two legs in the round of 16 and followed that with a 4-0 thumping of Nice and a 3-1 win over Toulouse on Friday.
Ousmane Dembele scored twice against Toulouse and has 10 Ligue 1 goals this season. I’ve been watching his movement off the ball lately - he’s drifting into pockets between the lines that most defenders can’t track.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has seven goals and four assists in 11 Champions League appearances this term. He’s scored in three consecutive knockout matches, including a brace off the bench against Chelsea. Kvaratskhelia has been involved in a goal in 11 straight European outings now - that’s crazy consistency. Without Barcola, Desire Doue will likely get a free role on the left where he can cut inside onto his right foot.
Joao Neves and Vitinha control the midfield, and Warren Zaire-Emery will slot in for the injured Fabian Ruiz. PSG are unbeaten in their last seven Champions League knockout matches and haven’t lost to an English side in six European meetings.
Team News: Barcola, Ruiz, Ndjantou and Mayulu are all out. Doue overcame a back complaint during the international break and trained fully.
Predicted Lineup: Safonov; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Mendes; Zaire-Emery, Vitinha, Neves; Doue, Dembele, Kvaratskhelia.
Liverpool
Liverpool have just one win from their last five matches. Saturday’s 4-0 hammering at Manchester City in the FA Cup was ugly - Erling Haaland grabbed a hat-trick and Mohamed Salah had a penalty saved before being taken off.
Liverpool are fifth in the Premier League on 49 points from 31 matches. Their away form has been dire - four defeats from five on the road.
But their Champions League form has been surprisingly divergent. Liverpool won 4-0 at Anfield against Galatasaray and kept four clean sheets in five UCL matches before their collapse against City. Florian Wirtz has created 27 open-play chances in nine European outings - he’s the one PSG need to watch.
Team News: Alisson, Bradley, Leoni, Bajcetic and Endo are all out. Isak has returned to training after three months and could feature off the bench. Gakpo is a doubt.
Predicted Lineup: Mamardashvili; Frimpong, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Wirtz; Ekitike.
PSG vs Liverpool Stats and Trends
- PSG have won their last six two-legged Champions League ties, including last season’s final.
- Both teams scored in five of PSG’s six home Champions League matches this season.
- Liverpool have lost four of their last five away matches across all competitions.
- Kvaratskhelia has scored or assisted in 11 consecutive Champions League appearances for PSG.
- Each side won their away leg when these teams met in last season’s round of 16, with PSG advancing on penalties.
PSG vs Liverpool Prediction
PSG at home, rested from a Friday kickoff against Toulouse, four wins running - they’re deservedly favourites.
But I’m not writing Liverpool off completely. Wirtz and Szoboszlai can unlock anyone on their day. However, PSG have conceded in five of their last six at the Parc des Princes in Europe, so a clean sheet isn’t guaranteed for either side.
I’m going PSG 2-1. Liverpool get a goal through sheer talent, but Kvaratskhelia, who I reckon scores again, should be too much across 90 minutes.
For those chasing football betting tips, the goals market is where I’d focus given how open both defences have been. On NZ betting sites, the over 2.5 is short, but there’s value in the combo below.

PSG vs Liverpool - The Ultimate Bet
PSG to Win and Both Teams to Score @ $3.20
Liverpool scored nine goals in five away Champions League matches this season. Even in poor form, they’ve got Salah, Wirtz and Ekitike - enough to find the net once.
PSG have scored 18 goals in six home European matches this term. Kvaratskhelia and Dembele are combining brilliantly, and Marquinhos gives PSG structure even when they commit numbers forward.
At $3.20, this bet captures the most likely outcome: a PSG victory in a game where Liverpool are too proud and too talented to go home scoreless.
