Tottenham Hotspur had never faced Paris Saint-Germain in a competitive fixture before this season, but in the span of three months they are going to meet twice. Spurs return to the French capital on Thursday morning New Zealand time - this time for a Champions League visit.

It has been a different story in Europe, however. Bayern have already shown that PSG can be tamed in front of their local crowd. As mentioned earlier, Spurs have also had success here in the UEFA Super Cup in August.

Team News: Ousmane Dembele is expected to return to the squad after recovering from a calf strain. The Ballon d’Or winner should start on the bench, though.

Backing Tottenham to win at Parc des Princes might not be the safest bet on football to make, but they did win in Paris in August.  

After Monday’s fiery derby at Arsenal, the North Londoners now turn their attention to France — and their impressive away record this season should give them plenty of belief.

With away draws at Bodo/Glimt and Monaco and home victories over Villarreal and Copenhagen, their European campaign has been tidy enough. An away trip to PSG though feels like a different level of challenge altogether.

Team News: Dominic Solanke, Yves Bissouma, Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison will miss out for Tottenham once again.

• PSG have won once and lost once at home in the Champions League this season. 
• Tottenham held PSG to a 2-2 draw in regulation time when they last visited Parc des Princes. They won on penalties later. 
• Spurs had not lost an away match this season ahead of their trip to The Emirates on Monday, where they fell to Arsenal.

PSG have been in ruthless scoring form in the Champions League this season, hitting the back of the net 14 times in four matches and giving up only five. It’s earned them nine points so far — three wins and a single defeat — and their goal difference shows just how dominant they can be when everything clicks.

Even so, their home form in Europe is a slight worry: one win and one defeat at the Parc. The latter was a frustrating 2-1 loss to Bayern that laid bare some defensive cracks against top-class opposition.

Tottenham have kept things tight in the Champions League so far, with only two goals conceded. However, PSG’s attacking firepower cannot be ignored, and even though they couldn’t outscore Spurs in August, it feels unlikely that it’s going to be the case once again.
