UEFA Women’s Euro 2025: Spain vs Switzerland

World champions Spain are in pursuit of continental glory in Switzerland this summer. The home team poses their first knockout challenge in the 2025 UEFA Women’s Euro at Wankdorf Stadium on Saturday.

Spain have outscored their opponents 14-3 to reach this stage of the competition. After winning Group B without breaking a sweat, Montserrat Tome’s side are one of the top favourites to win the tournament across betting sites in NZ.

Switzerland, meanwhile, are playing in the quarter-finals for the first time in their history. Since they are the clear underdogs, Rossocrociati will look to make the most of their home support and cause a major upset. We break down whether or not they have a chance, and outline the best bets to make on Spain vs Switzerland women below.

Spain vs Switzerland Analysis

Spain

After dismantling Belgium and Portugal, Spain put the icing on the cake with a 3-1 victory against Italy. Le Azzurre took the lead, but they could not match up with Spain’s intensity once they stepped on the gas. Athenea del Castillo restored parity four minutes later and second half goals from Patri Guijarro and Esther Gonzalez secured the points.

Football sports betting websites have slashed the odds for Spain winning the tournament after seeing their group stage rampage. The midfield core of Patri Guijarro, Aitana Bonmati, and Alexia Putellas make La Furia Roja an incredibly difficult side to play against.

Team News: Esther Gonzalez is an injury concern heading into the quarters, so she might get a rest.

Predicted Lineup: Nanclares; Fernandez, Paredes, Mendez, Ouahabi; Bonmati, Guijarro, Putellas; Del Castillo, Paralluelo, Caldentey.

Switzerland

Switzerland have already made history by making the last eight, but with the local support behind them, Pia Sundhage’s girls will dream of defying expectations across betting apps.

They lost their opening match to Norway, but picked up a much-needed win in the next game against Iceland. They needed to avoid defeat against Finland to reach the quarters and they got the job done with a one-all stalemate.

The hosts have achieved this historic feat without their star Ramona Bachmann, who missed the tournament with an ACL injury. Since they have nothing to lose, expect the Swiss to put up a fearless display against a true European titan.

Team News: Pia Sundhage could be forced into making some adjustments, with reports suggesting several players have caught the flu before the game. Julia Stierli and Coumba Sow might be the key absentees.

Predicted Lineup: Peng; Calligaris, Wandeler, Maritz; Beney, Reuteler, Walti, Vallotto, Riesen; Folmli, Schertenleib.

Spain vs Switzerland Prediction

Switzerland put up a good fight against Norway in the group stages, and did what they needed to do in the remaining matches to get here. But, based on what we have seen so far, Spain will be a much harder challenge to overcome.

Spain have equalled England’s record for scoring the most group stage goals in a Women’s Euro campaign by putting 14 goals past the opposition keepers so far. The team’s top scorer, Esther Gonzalez, might not be able to make it to the matchday squad for this match, but Spain still has enough firepower in their team to sink the Swiss ship.

It’s hard to imagine Spain not winning this by a significant margin. Expect them to prevail by at least three goals, though Switzerland may be able to grab a consolation goal or two.

Spain vs Switzerland - The Ultimate Bet

Spain 4-1 Switzerland @ $13.00

It will be suicidal if Switzerland tries to match Spain’s fluid playing style. Instead, they should go for a counter-attacking approach and try to limit Spain’s threats on the flanks. But Spain have too much quality in the middle, and even without Gonzalez, they should be able to score four against this Switzerland side. However, we expect the hosts to pull one back and make the scoreline 4-1. With odds of $13.00 at 20Bet, we like the upside of this punt.
