AEK Larnaca vs Celje

Friday August 1, 4:30am NZT, AEK Arena

After a 1-1 draw in Slovenia, AEK Larnaca and Celje meet in Cyprus on Thursday night with a Europa League third qualifying round berth at stake.

There was little to separate the sides last week, so we believe betting apps in NZ may be underestimating the visitors. AEK Larnaca are heavy favourites due to their home advantage, but we must keep in mind that they’ve won just two of their last nine European home fixtures.

This one could be a tight affair, as both sides are evenly matched in terms of quality and continental experience. But with Celje enjoying strong recent form and AEK struggling at home in Europe, the visitors look well placed to edge it.

Hacken vs Anderlecht

Friday August 1, 5am NZT, Bravida Arena

Hacken have it all to do in the second leg as they attempt to turn the tables on Anderlecht and stay in the hunt for Europa League qualification.

Hacken’s poor run in the Allsvenskan hit a new low with a 6-1 defeat to Djurgarden. Anderlecht, in contrast, cruised to a 5-2 win over Westerlo, with Thorgan Hazard bagging a brace.

Anderlecht won the first leg 1-0. Hacken will feel they are still in with a chance, but the Belgian visitors are likely to adopt a cautious approach to protect their narrow lead. For this reason, betting on under 2.5 goals with the best betting sites in NZ appears to be a smart play.

CFR Cluj vs Lugano

Friday August 1, 5:30am NZT, Stadionul Dr. Constantin Radulescu

The first meeting between CFR Cluj and Lugano ended fruitless last week as they settled for a 0-0 draw at the Stockhorn Arena last week. So, the tie is evenly balanced as the teams prepare for the second leg.

Cluj will look to bounce back from a 2-1 home defeat against Arges Pitesti. Lugano also suffered a 2-1 loss at home before flying to Romania.

The visitors will hope to turn things around after a couple of poor outings, but playing in familiar surroundings puts Cluj in a slightly advantageous position in this tie.
