Lincoln Red Imps vs Noah

Friday August 8, 4:00am NZT, Europa Sports Complex

The Red Imps and Noah renew their pursuit of continental football with a Europa League qualifier clash, after the premature end to their Champions League campaigns.

Lincoln Red Imps started strong by beating Vikingur Gota 4-2 on aggregate in the first UCL qualifying round, but Red Star Belgrade humbled them in the following round. Noah, meanwhile, saw off Buducnost Podgorica before losing 6-4 on aggregate to Hungarian champions Ferencvaros.

The Red Imps at home are always a different beast, and they’ll be confident of making a statement in this opening leg. With that in mind, there could be serious value here, especially with NZ betting sites appearing to overlook their chances.

Fredrikstad vs Midtjylland

Friday August 8, 4:00am NZT, Nye Fredrikstad Stadion

Fredrikstad’s return to European competition begins with a high-stakes Scandinavian derby against Danish side Midtjylland in the UEFA Europa League. The Norwegians will be playing at home, but football betting sites still consider them the underdogs.

Nye Fredrikstad Stadion have not experienced European football for more than one and a half decades. Winning the Norwegian Cup gave Fredrikstand a chance to end that wait, and now they will dream even bigger and hope for a spot in the Europa League finals.

However, Midtjylland are seasoned European campaigners and should have enough to come away with the win.

CFR Cluj vs Braga

Friday August 1, 4:30am NZT, Stadionul Dr. Constantin Radulescu

CFR Cluj host Portuguese outfit Braga in Transylvania for the opening leg of their Europa League third qualifying round clash.

While Cluj have featured in the Conference League twice, it’s been five years since their last Europa League group stage appearance, and they’ll have to punch well above their weight to make it this time.

Often labelled as Portugal’s fourth powerhouse, Braga don’t often crack the Champions League, but Europa League nights are regular for Os Arsenalistas.

Braga are the undisputed favourites, but we feel Cluj can grind out a win in this one since the Portuguese outfit seemed rusty in their recent outings.
