UEFA World Cup Qualifiers: Poland vs Finland - Betting Tips, Odds & Prediction

Three months after their meeting in Helsinki blew the UEFA World Cup qualifier Group G wide open, Poland and Finland are set to face off in Chorzow, Poland. Finland, Poland, and Netherlands - three teams are fighting for the Group G summit, so best the live betting sites and traditional bookmakers are keeping an eye on this Monday morning affair.

Poland

After starting their World Cup qualification campaign with two back-to-back wins, Poland tasted their first defeat in the reverse fixture. Goals from Joel Pohjanpalo and Benjamin Kallman forced them to return empty-handed from Helsinki, but the Eagles will hope for better luck in front of their home crowd. 

Top betting websites are labelling Poland the favourites for this match. However, they are still adjusting to life under Jan Urban. The former Poland international will hope to reintegrate Robert Lewandowski into the squad, who had stepped away from national team duty due to differences with former manager Michal Probierz.

Team News: Lewandowski may be lacking match fitness, but Urban could still decide to start him.

Finland

Finland saw off Poland at home, but in recent times, their performances have been below par. Ahead of their friendly against Norway, Finland have won just two of their last 12 matches across all competitions, including a dreadful streak of six straight defeats between September and November 2024 that left them bottom of UEFA Nations League B Group 2.

Jacob Friis has come in as the new Finland boss after their poor run of results. In his first three matches in charge, Friis has won one, lost one, and drawn one. The Eagle-Owls will hope that the new manager bounce will give them an advantage in this match.

Team News: Albert Rosas Ubach, who has five goals for Andorra, has been left out of the squad once again.

Betting apps in NZ had labelled Poland the favourites when the teams met in June as well. But they could not survive the intensity of the hosts and fell to their first defeat of the qualifiers. Jakub Kiwior’s goal only proved to be a consolation. 

Both teams come into this match under new managers. Because each side is adapting to new tactics and systems, this should be a very different match than the one we saw in Helsinki. 

Lewandowski’s return will give Poland a massive boost even though the Barcelona player has not had much football in recent times. But the presence of a player as iconic as him should give the team a significant morale boost.

Finland has been defensively vulnerable and their World Cup qualifier record is far from convincing. Poland should get the job done on Monday and move closer to their 10th World Cup campaign.
