One match to go on this side of the bracket - England vs Argentina in Atlanta for a spot in Sunday’s final.

I’m expecting a tight one. Argentina have needed extra time in two of their three knockout games, and England needed 120 minutes to put Norway away. Both sides are worn down and I’d be surprised if we get an open semi-final.

Combined World Cup 2026 odds on my three-leg multi come in just under $9 across football betting sites. If you’ve got free bets on NZ betting sites or betting apps, this is a good spot to use them.

Top Picks for World Cup Day 33 | July 16

England vs Argentina

Under 2.5 goals ($1.65)

Argentina’s knockout run hasn’t been smooth. They needed extra time against Cape Verde and went 2-0 down against Egypt before Lionel Messi dragged them back in the final 11 minutes. And even against 10-man Switzerland they couldn’t get it done in 90 - it took Julian Alvarez’s screamer at 112 minutes. Two extra-time games out of three will have cost them.

England aren’t as fresh as you’d expect either. Jude Bellingham has six tournament goals now, including both in the 2-1 extra-time win over Norway, but it’s been him or nothing at times. Jarell Quansah is still serving his two-match ban. Declan Rice was pulled at half-time against Norway with illness. And it took an Orjan Nyland error for Bellingham’s winner to go in.

I don’t see either side coming out with attacking intent here.

✓ Long Shot: Match decided on penalties ($5.50)
✓ Extra Tip: Jude Bellingham anytime goalscorer ($3.00)
