World Cup 2026 action this Sunday NZT has four group openers, with Brazil vs Morocco the standout. I’ve gone through squad news, recent form, and odds on football betting sites to put together my picks for each game. There’s a four-leg multi at the bottom if you’re after one clean bet.
Top Picks for World Cup Day 3 | June 14
Qatar vs Switzerland
Switzerland to win ($1.23)
Switzerland were unbeaten across qualifying, topping their group with 14 goals scored and just two conceded in six matches. Granit Xhaka captains a side I’d call one of the most underrated in the tournament, and Breel Embolo and Dan Ndoye should cause problems up front.
Qatar went 0-3 in the group stage as hosts in 2022, and their recent form doesn’t inspire much more confidence this time around. This price is short, but it’s a banking leg for the multi. If you’ve picked up any free bets for this tournament, this is a decent spot to deploy them.
✓ Long Shot: Qatar to score first ($6.00)
✓ Extra Tip: Over 2.5 goals ($1.65)
Brazil vs Morocco
Brazil to win ($1.70)
This is the match I’m least settled on. Morocco are reigning AFCON champions and went 8-from-8 in qualifying. Achraf Hakimi and Brahim Diaz give them real attacking threat, and new coach Mohamed Ouahbi has inherited a side full of tournament pedigree after their 2022 semifinal run.
But Brazil’s squad is deep even without the injured Rodrygo and Estevao.
Vinicius Junior and Raphinha will likely start wide, and Carlo Ancelotti has had this group in form during warm-ups, scoring eight across wins over Panama and Egypt. Neymar is a doubt with a calf injury, though I don’t think Brazil need him for this one.
At $1.70 it’s a tight price for a tight game.
✓ Long Shot: Both teams to score and Brazil win ($3.80)
✓ Extra Tip: Over 2.5 goals ($1.90)
Haiti vs Scotland
Scotland to win ($1.53)
A first World Cup since 1998 and Scotland look ready for it. They qualified by beating Denmark in a do-or-die final qualifier, then followed up with a 4-1 win over Curacao and a comfortable victory over Bolivia.
Billy Gilmour’s knee injury is a blow, but Scott McTominay and John McGinn form a strong enough midfield pairing to cope. I’ve been checking betting apps and Scotland are firm favourites across the board.
Haiti scored 20 goals in qualifying and thumped New Zealand 4-0 recently, so I’m not writing them off entirely. Still, they’ve failed to keep a clean sheet in three of four matches this year.
✓ Long Shot: Scotland win to nil ($2.60)
✓ Extra Tip: Under 2.5 goals ($1.90)
Australia vs Turkiye
Turkiye to win ($1.75)
Turkiye are also back at the World Cup, playing for the first time since 2002. Arda Guler and Kenan Yildiz are the attackers everyone’s watching, and Hakan Calhanoglu - now confirmed back in full training after a calf issue - will run their midfield. They’ve won all four internationals in 2026 with three clean sheets.
Australia got through a tough Asian qualifying group under Tony Popovic, winning four of five recent matches, but I think Turkiye are a level above here. They’re the best value on the day at $1.75, and it’s worth comparing across NZ betting sites to see if you can get a touch more.
✓ Long Shot: Turkiye -1.5 handicap ($3.40)
✓ Extra Tip: Under 2.5 goals ($1.85)
