Saturday Racing Tips - Hastings 10/10/26

The best of the Saturday racing in New Zealand comes from Hastings where the card is headlined by the Group 1 Livamol Classic.

In what is a competitive card, ahead of the first race we have run our eye through the card and picked out some of our best horse racing tips. As well as our exclusive tips we have highlighted three races which look to be the most competitive of the day. Whether you want to back a short priced favourite, or a horse at longer odds, read on as we have every angle covered.

Waitak – 2.80

Tuxedo – 3.10

She’s A Dealer – 5.50

BEST BET – Tuxedo

The top three from the Howden Insurance Mile prepare to lock horns once again in the Livamol Classic. Tuxedo is yet to win at the highest level but couldn’t have been closer in the Howden, going down by a short head ro Waitak. He looked the winner at numerous times and the step up in distance should help here. There is plenty to like.

THE DANGER – Waitak

A winner of four Group 1 contests, including this last year, when he won by five lengths Waitak sets the clear standard. Showing himself as gutsy as they come when clinging on in the Howden, a return to this distance should boost his chances. Should go close and will hope to defend his crown.

VALUE BET – She’s A Dealer

Connections of She’s A Dealer could also feel hard done by when leaving the Howden. A never nearer third, she is a winner at this level and seems to be in good heart. A step up to this distance is a slight unknown based on her one previous attempt where she didn’t see it out. However, she’s a different horse now and is the value play.

Getaway – 4.80

Coulthard – 7.00

BEST BET – Origin Of Love

The Colliers Hawke’s Bay Premier Mile will see Origin Of Love as the favourite for victory. Bringing in the best form following her win in the Group 2 Wellington Guineas, a repeat of that will see her go close.

THE DANGER – Getaway

Getaway is a real threat. With two wins from six starts, and three placed efforts, there is a lot to like. This is her first stab at a graded race but she looks up to it and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see her run well.

VALUE BET – Coulthard

Coulthard could be the value play here. Hugely consistent, he has five seconds from his last six starts. The concern is that those defeats have come in races of this nature, however he’s hard to ignore given his current form and usually gives his followers a run for their money.

War Princess – 5.50

Khanshe – 14.00

The Scunner – 21.00

BEST BET – War Princess

In the Group 3 Timberspan Spring Spring War Princess should have plenty of support. A decent performer at this level she is a winner at this grade and comes into the contest fresh off the back of two consecutive wins. Craig Grylls takes the ride and there is a lot to like.

THE DANGER – Khanshe

There are several dangers and one of them is Khanshe. A winner of six of her twenty starts, there are very few horses in this field that boast that level of winning form. A winner of the Group 2 Travis Stakes when last seen months ago, she returns to a reasonable level of racing and should run well if tuned up.

VALUE BET – The Scunner

Our long shot of the day is The Scunner and despite his odds he looks capable of defying his price. A winner at this level in the past, he returned from a 19 week break with a solid effort in the Hastings Premier Handicap. That second place should see him ready to race here and he can’t be discounted.
