The best of the Saturday racing in New Zealand comes from Ruakaka, where the card is headlined by the Cambridge Stud Northland Breeders Stakes.

In what is a competitive card ahead of the first race we have run our eye through the card and picked out some of our best horse racing tips. As well as our exclusive tips we have highlighted three races which look to be the most competitive of the day. She’s No Saint – 4.60

BEST BET – She’s No Saint

In the headline race of the day, we are siding with experience and hope that She’s No Saint will be able to land the first graded contest of her career. Looking to land a trio of wins, her last win came here, and her recent form is hard to ignore. She could run a big race here.

THE DANGER – Shalabiya

The obvious danger is the short priced favourite Shalabiya. Having run just once, the nature of her debut run was hugely impressive and there are many who believe she could be very special. This is a huge hike in grade and she carries more weight but she could end up being a class apart.

VALUE BET – Sonar

Although there is great value to be found throughout the race, Sonar is hard to ignore. A winner on debut, he then went into listed company and was perhaps a tad unlucky to have finished fourth at Otaki. His form is decent and he could outrun his odds.

BEST BET – Nicconi County

The Bream Bay Cup is the next big race on the card, and we will take another chance with Nicconi County. Already on a three-timer, he is bidding for a fourth victory on the spin and his third on the spin at Ruakaka. He has stiff competition, but his form is simply too good to ignore.

THE DANGER – Levakia

Boasting a place rate of 53%, Levakia usually gives her backers a good run for their money and that should be the case once again here. Boasting a good track record, she is two from two from the track and couldn’t be in better form following a good win at Ellerslie last time out. Conditions should be in her favour, and she might be the one to beat.

VALUE BET – Cluedo Lane

Cludeo Lane is our value player here. Off the track for over four months, he has been running some big races of late. A winner of the Group 3 White Robe Lodge, he then disappointed in the Tab Southern Alps Challenge when he ran no sort of race. If fit and ready, he could be one to watch with real interest.

Pact – 6.50

Azamira – 13.00

BEST BET – Merrima

In the fifth race of the day, Merrima is an intriguing contender. Having raced just five times, she broke her maiden tag last time out with a good win here. She looks to be a consistent type and another big run could well be in the offing.

THE DANGER – Pact

There are several dangers but one that coud be worth a second look is Pact. Boasting a similar profile to Merrima, she has raced four times and was able to break her duck last time out here. That was a big improvement from her previous efforts and the hope is that there could be more to come.

VALUE BET – Azamira

Azamira is our long shot horse of the day. Another who was able to break their maiden at this track, this is tougher, but her form stacks up nicely. If you are looking for one at a price, she could well be the answer.
