The best racing in New Zealand this Saturday comes from Trentham where the action features a combination of jumps and flat races.

Ahead of the first race we have run our eye through the card and picked out some of our best horse racing tips. BEST BET – Shamelia Kirk

In what is a hugely competitive card, in the fourth race of the day Shamelia Kirk will make massive appeal. In a race where there are several newcomers, her second on debut at Woodville sets a good benchmark and on form she is the one to beat. Her experience could be vital.

THE DANGER – Hidden Spark

The race is packed full of exciting newcomers but on form the one to take notice off is Hidden Spark. Ideally drawn she is bred to be decent and could well get off the mark in style here.

VALUE BET – Alonotas

With so many unknowns, when looking for value it could be worth siding with experience and Alonotas could be a potential player. Whilst a fifth on debut doesn’t inspire a huge amount of confidence, she could come on for the run and could go close if she has learnt from her debut effort.

BEST BET – Never Look Back

In what is one of the best jumps races of the day, Never Look Back could run a big race in the fifth race of the day. A winner three weeks ago, this is tougher but he will have less weight to carry here than for his victory. Has to be respected.

THE DANGER – Nedwin

Nedwin could well jump off as the favourite for the contest and will be looking to bounce back following two disappointing efforts. This is easier than those assignments but he has something to prove.

VALUE BET – Super Flash

Super Flash could be the value play of what is a wide open contest. He has a horrible record at the track with no wins in eight starts, but does arrive here following a second at Wanganui. That was a decent effort and a repeat of that will see him go close.

BEST BET – Kick On

In the second race of the day Kick On arrives with a bundle of experience and will be making his 68th career start. Despite having gone over a year without a win, he has finished second in four of his last seven starts. That consistency is the best form on offer and he should give his running once more.

THE DANGER – Tutin Cans

Tutin Cans could be the main danger here. The likely speed angle he has won off the front before and will be hoping to do something similar here. Another who has good consistency having placed in three of his last five starts, he could well be the one to back, particularly if afforded a soft time out in front.

VALUE BET – Nightrein

Nightrein is our long shot of the day and compared to most of this field he is massively unexposed. A second at Hawera two starts ago is decent form but he blundered last time out when failing to finish at Wanganui. If none the worst for that spill he could be a contender if producing the same effort as he did at Hawera.
