The best racing in New Zealand this Saturday comes from Wanganui where the action is headlined by the Agc Training Stakes.

BEST BET – Churchillian

By landing his second Grade 3 victory last time out at Arawa Park, Churchillian has to be a serious fancy for the day’s feature contest. With two wins in his last four and with conditions set to suit, there is plenty to like about his chances and he is definitely the one to beat here.

THE DANGER – Platinum Diamond

There are several rivals that arrive here in decent form and one of those is Platinum Diamond. A danger around here thanks to her win in the Wanganui Guineas, her second behind Churchillian last time out offers serious hope and she can’t be dismissed.

VALUE BET – Riverplate

At a price it could be worth siding with Riverplate. With one win from two starts at the track, conditions should be perfect. He has has been drawn wide but should have the speed to deal with that. There is plenty to like.

La Dulcin’ee – 6.50

Tommy Star – 11.00

BEST BET – Great Escape

In the sixth race of the day the form of Great Escape jumps out. Although a winner just once in her nine starts, she has finished second three times consecutively. Having had a year off, she ran well on her reappearance and should be fitter here. She is easily the one to beat.

THE DANGER – La Dulcin’ee

Trying to find a danger when so many are out of form is tricky but La Dulcin’ee could be the main threat. A winner four starts ago, she hasn’t been able to back that up on her last three starts. However, she loves it here and has two wins from three starts at the track and a return here could see her return to her best.

VALUE BET – Tommy Star 

Tommy Star could be the value play here. Having made only five starts he is still unexposed to most in this field. His one and only career win came here and if he can produce the form of his winning run he might just have a chance.

Gold Currency – 4.00

Overrated – 15.00

BEST BET – Gold Currency

The betting for the eighth race of the day looks competitive between Exit Left and Gold Currency. We are giving the edge to Gold Currency. Although his last win came over a year ago, he has been running in better races than Exit Left and was unlucky not to have won last time out. This looks like a golden opportunity.

THE DANGER – Exit Left

Exit Left is the obvious danger, with two wins from his four last starts. One of those wins has come at the track and he should go well once again. He could go off as the favourite and could end up being a class apart.

VALUE BET – Overrated

If the top two take each other on it could leave the race open to a horse like Overrated. Vastly experienced, this will be his first start at the track and he is coming in off a win. On recent form he is amongst the most consistent horses in the race and could pull off a surprise at a big price.
