The Ascot Park card this Sunday is headlined by several competitive handicap races.

Ahead of this and the first race we have run our eye through the card and picked out some of our best horse racing tips.

BEST BET – The Blue Diamond

Taking a drop down in class, the Blue Diamond looks to have a great chance of landing the first win of her career. Having placed in her last two starts, she was just denied Wingatui a couple of weeks ago. This should be easier and she has to be respected.

THE DANGER – Easterly

Easterly could deny The Blue Diamond that elusive first victory and he is also in great form having just missed out at Riverton last time out. Expect him to lead the pace, he could set the race up perfectly for himself.

VALUE BET – Just Henri

The value play of the contest looks to lie with Just Henri. A third and second place effort in his last two starts suggest that the penny has dropped and another big run can be expected.

Bakers Dozen – 7.00

Explode – 10.00

BEST BET – Bakers Dozen

Having just failed to break his maiden at Riverton in early March, Bakers Dozen showed he was a horse on the up when smashing the competition a month later. Arguably the form horse of the contest, we are backing him to win a second race in succession – this is tougher.

THE DANGER – Who Rox The House

The betting is set to be led by Who Rox The House who is taking a step down in class here. The only win of her career came at this track three starts ago and conditions look perfect. She looks to be the main danger in what is a hugely competitive contest.

VALUE BET – Explode

Explode is another class dropper and returns back to a grade where he won last time out. His record at the track isn’t the most convincing, but having shed his maiden tag, he is a different horse now and he could easily outrun his odds.

Rochello – 5.00

The Good Shepherd – 11.00

BEST BET – Ziggy Stardust

Having won two of his nine starts this season, Ziggy Stardust was unlucky not to have won a third when losing by a length at Riverton last time out. He has raced just once here, and that ended up in a victory so he looks to have a massive chance of getting back onto the winning trail.

THE DANGER – Rochello

Rochello has won two of her last three starts and is a veteran of this track. Having won or placed on almost half of her visits, she is consistent and will be vying for favouritism by the time the race starts. She looks to hold a massive chance.

VALUE BET – The Good Shepherd

Nobody in this field has the experience of The Good Shepherd and he will be hoping to put that experience to use with a big run here. A winner of nine races, a quarter of those have come at the track and he is taking a small drop in class. Whilst his recent form is nothing special, if he can piece it all together he could run a huge race and give those at the top of the market something to think about.
