The Hawera card this Sunday is headlined by several competitive handicap races.

Ahead of this and the first race we have run our eye through the card and picked out some of our best horse racing tips.

In the second race on the card Sight Unseen will be hoping for a first career win. Having raced just four times, she showed massive improvement to finish second last time out at Waverley. With the penny dropped, she sets the standard here.

THE DANGER – Undertheboardwalk

The main danger could well lie with Undertheboardwalk. Having had three starts, she has placed twice but has always found just one too good. That could be the case again with Sight Unseen but she should give her running.

VALUE BET – Mark My Wordz

Mark My Wordz could be the value. Although it’s hard to look past the first two in the market, there were enough signs on debut that improvement could come here and he could leave his debut well behind.

BEST BET – Amazing Son

In race four Amazing Son will be hoping to win a third race of his career. Remarkably consistent he has only finished outside of the places twice and a repeat should come here. The one to beat.

THE DANGER – Hey Hey Baby

Hey Hey Baby will be a live threat. Vastly experienced she won last time out at Te Repa and takes a small class drop here. She will be strong and popular in the betting.

VALUE BET – Digger

In a race of this nature experience can often count for a lot and Digger is the most experienced here. Although no where near prolific, he has been a winner and posted a fourth in his last two and could outrun his odds.

Pointer – 15.00

BEST BET – Malachy

In the sixth race of the day Malachy is likely to start as the favourite thanks to his win last time out at Otaki. He drops in weight here and should have every chance.

THE DANGER – Duke of Plumpton

Duke of Plumpton is the form horse of the race having won his last two. He has a great record here and should be bang in the mix. He takes a step down in distance but should go well.

VALUE BET – Pointer

Our long shot of the day is Pointer. A winner two starts ago, that win came in a higher level. He ran no race last time out which is a concern but if it clicks, he can be a major force here.
