Sunday Racing Tips - Matamata 14/06/26

The Matamata card this Sunday is headlined by several competitive handicap races.

Ahead of this and the first race we have run our eye through the card and picked out some of our best horse racing tips.

BEST BET – Ocean Opal

In the third race of the day Ocean Opal will be the hot favourite to win and shed his maiden tag. Having gone three starts without a win, he has placed on each occasion and should give another good account here. Up against a batch of newcomers he is the one to beat. 

THE DANGER – Iron Throne

A newcomer wouldn’t have to be overly special to land a race of this nature and Iron Throne could be one to follow. Nicely bred he represents a yard who do well with their newcomers. He could be one to watch with interest.

VALUE BET – Classic Grace

When it comes to value it might be worth siding with experience. Classic Grace has had six starts without a win but ran her best race to date when finishing third at Tauranga. If she builds on that she could be dangerous.

BEST BET – Jungle Love

In the sixth race of the day, Jungle Love will be backed to win the third race of his career. After winning his first two races, he will be looking to get back on the winning trail after two runs without a win. He looks to have a great chance here.

THE DANGER – Ever Charm

Having gone a year and a half without a win, Ever Charm takes a step down in class and connections will hope that the move will see him get back inside the winners circle. Her stats on a heavy track read well with five places from seven starts and a big run can be expected.

VALUE BET – Did The Trick

At a price Did The Trick could be worth a second look. Another class dropper, he arrives in decent form having won at Waverley two starts ago. Craig Grylls is on board and he has an excellent chance.

BEST BET – Quondo

In the penultimate race of the day Quondo will start as the favourite. Unexposed compared to most in this lineup, he was a winner on debut and has placed in two of his next four runs. Conditions should be favourable and he has to be a contender.

THE DANGER – Notabadbergs

Notabadbergs just has the one win from fifteen starts but has been unlucky not to have added to his tally with two narrow defeats in each of his last two starts. Conditions should be perfect and a big run can be anticipated.

VALUE BET – Robbie Burns

Our long shot of the day is Robbie Burns. Due to set off as the rank outsider, this will be his first start since October, but when last seen he was running well when finishing second Pukekohe Park. He has won here in the past and can’t be fully ruled out despite his price.
