The Tauranga card this Sunday is headlined by several competitive handicap races.

Ahead of this and the first race we have run our eye through the card and picked out some of our best horse racing tips.

Just six horses will make it down to post for the second race on the card and Hip Flask will start as the one the rest need to beat. A second on debut was encouraging and this is a similar event so the form stacks up well. The one they all need to beat.

THE DANGER – Casa Rubick

After four fairly uneventful trials in Hong Kong, Casa Rubick found life in New Zealand far easier with a decent third place effort on debut. That effort came here at the end of June and places him bang in the mix. Connections will be confident of a big run.

VALUE BET – She’s A Surprise

With just six in the field, She’s A Surprise looks to be the value play of the contest. She took to the track four weeks ago and finished fifth and whilst that form isn’t too much to write home about, she should be wiser here and should give her running.

BEST BET – What’s Done is Done

What’s Done is Done will be looking to shed her maiden tag at the sixth time of asking and looks to have been found a golden opportunity to do so. After not showing much, something clearly clicked as she finished second last time out at Arawa Park. That was her best run to date by a mile and more can be expected here.

THE DANGER – Miss Parker

Miss Parker boasts a similar profile to What’s Done is Done but is a little more exposed than her rival. A maiden after 12 starts, she has placed in six of those races, including last time out. She usually finds one too good but that might not be the case here.

VALUE BET – Starlight Rose

Starlight Rose has to be the value play. She has made just two starts and after being tailed off on debut, she showed massive improvement to finish second last time out here. She finished ahead of Casa Rubick who is expected to run a big race in the opener and she can’t be slept on.

Golden Jacket – 12.00

BEST BET – Dun Talkin’

Yet to win after eight starts, connections of Dun Talkin’ will be hoping that the last race of the day will see that record change. Used to operating at a higher level than this, her fifth last time out is better than the form and the run suggested and there should be more to come, a bold bid can be expected.

THE DANGER – Did The Trick

Did The Trick has three wins from 26 starts and whilst that form is hardly prolific, he has the form and experience to be in the mix here. A winner four starts ago, he hasn’t been the same since but if caught on a going day he can certainly compete.

VALUE BET – Golden Jacket

Golden Jacket could be the one to back at a price and is our long shot of the day. A winner of just one of his eight starts, since that win he has failed to fire and has changed hands. After being tailed off last time out, he steps up in trip here and that could see him return to his best.
