Sunday Racing Tips - Te Aroha 05/07/26

The Te Aroha card this Sunday is headlined by several competitive handicap races in both the flat and jump spheres.

Ahead of this and the first race we have run our eye through the card and picked out some of our best horse racing tips.

My Maebelline Girl – 2.90

The Belvoir – 8.50

Leprekhan – 13.00

BEST BET – My Maebelline Girl

In the opening race of the day My Maebelline Girl will have plenty of supporters. A winner of her last two at the track, she did it nicely last time out and is likely to be up with the speed once more. She has finished ahead of several of these in the past and sets the standard.

THE DANGER – The Belvoir

The Belvoir rates as a big danger but does have form to overturn with My Maeblline Girl. Defeated by her two starts ago, he was next seen at Te Repa where he won well. This is a little easier than that last assignment and connections will hope he can turn the tables on his main rival here.

VALUE BET – Leprekhan

Leprekhan could rate as the value player. A good winner of a competitive race at Trentham three weeks ago, that was by far the best effort of his career. This is also tough but it’s hard to ignore that recent form and he could have enough to battle it out for the places.

Sir Fergus – 5.00

Empressive – 11.00

BEST BET – Feint to East

The last race of the day looks full of serious competitors but Feint to East might just have the edge on them all. Still reasonably unexposed to most, the penny seemed to drop at Woodville last time out as she landed the first race of her career. That was only her third start and there could be more to come here.

THE DANGER – Sir Fergus

Craig Grylls takes the ride of Sir Fergus and there will be high hopes that he can land a second career victory here. A winner on debut, he then produced his best effort since last time out and was unlucky not to have won. Another bold effort can be expected here.

VALUE BET – Empressive

Empressive is arguably the most interesting horse in the race. A winner on debut, something was clearly amiss as he tanked along his next race to finish a remote last. Since then he has been off the track for 32 weeks so has fitness to prove. However, the manner of his debut win suggested he was a horse going places and if ready to race he could make his mark here.

Dink – 3.00

Vito – 8.50

Icon – 12.00

BEST BET – Dink

Dink has had eight starts to try and break his maiden and has finished second in both of his last two starts. That form is amongst the best in this race but he could be vulnerable to an improver.

THE DANGER – Vito

Through three starts Vito hasn’t shown a great deal of form but in his last start he produced his best effort to finish third at Matamata. It could be that he has found his groove and another big run can be expected.

VALUE BET – Icon

Icon is our long shot of the day but will require a leap of faith in order to back. Having raced predominantly in metro classes, he takes a small step down in grade here and connections have called upon the expertise of Craig Grylls. He could be a player at a price.
