Fairview Motors Maiden (1200m)

Selections:

Shirase – 2.30

Haiku – 9.00

Line Dancer – 14.00

BEST BET – Shirase

After finishing fourth in a hot maiden four weeks ago on debut, there is plenty that is expected of Shirase here. Two horses from that race have gone onto win since and the form looks solid. This looks like her race to lose.

THE DANGER – Haiku

There are several potential dangers with Haiku being one of them. She had raced to a decent level before taking a 8 month break. Conditions should be fine and she could be a solid play if ready.

VALUE BET – Line Dancer

Line Dancer could represent some value here. Slow to get going in her career she has placed in each of her last two starts. She has had an eight week break and may return raring to go. Her chances can’t be dismissed.

See You At Te Repa Tavern - (1400m)

Selections:

Miss Understood – 3.10

Empirical – 6.50

Sweetazme – 10.00

BEST BET – Miss Understood

Miss Understood is our next best bet selection and her connections will fancy their chances in the final race. Having won her last two races, she absolutely bolted in last time out at Te Repa. Conditions should be perfect and she is hard to dismiss. She is a worthy favourite.

THE DANGER – Empirical

Empirical could be one for the shortlist. Having won two of his last four races, including last time out at Taupo, there is plenty to like. Ideally drawn he should be able to settle well and should burst home late.

VALUE BET – Swetazme

Sweetzme is our value play and he should give a good account of himself here. A winner on debut, it took seven goes to get back inside the winners circle but he was able to do so last time out at Arawa Park. The heavier the rain, the better his chances.

Skycity Hamilton Waikato Cup – Tickets On Sale Now Hcp - (1100m)

Selections:

Grinzinger Moon – 4.40

Charmrose – 8.50

Reward Smile – 14.00

BEST BET – Grinzinger Moon

The most intriguing horse of the seventh race is Grinzinger Moon. Having won six of his ten starts, including his last two he is in fine form. He has had a seventeen week spell on the sidelines and whether these conditions are too severe remain to be seen. He may be a late withdrawal but he sets the standard.

THE DANGER – Charmrose

Charmrose could be a danger. Resuming after a five month break he is seeking a hat trick and will be determined to continue his winning run. He represents top connections and will be in the mix if ready to race.

VALUE BET – Reward Smile

Reward Smile is our long play of the day. Having won two of his last three starts he has been racing at a metro grade and this could be a slightly easier assignment. He has had four weeks off the track so should be fresh and raring to go.
