The Waipukurau 26/4/26 card this Sunday is headlined by several competitive handicap races.

BEST BET – Unusual Imvader

On a card that is loaded with competitive looking races, one of the strongest bets of the day looks to be Unusual Invader. She is very much unexposed in comparison to the bulk of this field and with one win and three placings from her five career runs, she has some of the best form.

THE DANGER – Belle’s Charm

Belle’s Charm is dropping in class and has to be of real interest. A winner two starts ago, she couldn’t quite back that up when finishing in the middle of the pack at Otaki a few weeks ago. This is easier and she will go close.

VALUE BET – Knickerless

There are plenty at a price who could go well and Knickerless looks to be one of those. Hugely experienced, she has gone four months without a win but suggested that run could come to an end with a second place finish last time out. There could be more to come here.

Say I Do – 14.00

BEST BET – Bonnard

Bonnard is one of our best bets of the day and we think he has a great chance in the 6th race of the day. With just the five starts and two wins, including last time out, there could be more to come. This distance is his best and a big run can be expected.

THE DANGER – Cheval De Foudre

Cheval De Foudre will be a huge threat. It’s been over a year since he last won, but he’s lightly raced and has been running well. Two places efforts in his last three have been promising and another bold bid can be expected here.

VALUE BET – Say I Do

Say I Do is arguably one of the best value options of the entire card. Looking for a third successive victor, he is the form horse of the race. The distance will be fine and conditions should be perfect, expect a bold showing.

Merrilegs – 11.00

BEST BET – Only The Lonely

In the finale punters will hope that Only The Lonely will send them home happy. Hugely consistent, despite having only one win in ten starts, she has placed in seven of them and usually gives her running. This looks a golden opportunity to get back inside the winners circle.

THE DANGER – Shameless Boy

It could be argued that Shameless Boy is the most interesting runner on the card. A winner of his second start, he has placed twice in his other seven starts, but interestingly makes his return for the first time in over a year. Having raced at a higher level than this in the past, he deserves serious respect if ready to race.

VALUE BET – Merrilegs

Our long shot of the day is Merrilegs. Having just raced three times it’s fair to say that more could come and she looked good when winning at Tauherenikau last year. Unable to back that up in a much higher grade next time out, she returns to the track well rested and b much calmer waters. A big run can be expected.
