Sunday Racing Tips - Wingatui 28/06/26

The Wingatui card this Sunday is headlined by several competitive handicap races.

Ahead of this and the first race we have run our eye through the card and picked out some of our best horse racing tips.

As well as our exclusive tips we have highlighted three races which look to be the most competitive of the day. Whether you want to back a short priced favourite, or a horse at longer odds, read on as we have every angle covered.

Crackbones – 4.00

Bythesea – 4.00

Dream Romance – 8.00

BEST BET – Crackbones

In the second race on the card several horses will be looking to shed their maiden tag, including Crackbones. Having placed on three of his five starts, he has been unlucky not to have poked his head in front. This is easier than his second last time out at Oamuru and he sets the standard.

THE DANGER – Bythesea

The danger is likely to come from Bythesea. An encouraging second on debut couldn’t be backed up last time out when he finished well down the field. That is a concern but he was hampered at the start and should go well with a clearer run.

VALUE BET – Dream Romance

Dream Romance can’t be slept on. A five run maiden, she has placed second in two of those efforts and has form to rival most in this lineup. The question mark is fitness but if she can handle her 5 month layoff she should be in the mix. She might need the run.

Who Rox The House – 5.00

Explosive Lass – 8.00

BEST BET – Maria Pilar

It could be argued that the fourth race of the day is the most competitive with several horses likely to compete. Maria Pilar is our selection. She just missed out on her last start at Oamuru and was unlucky there. Here she drops to her preferred distance, having won and placed second in her seven starts at this trip. There is plenty to like.

THE DANGER – Who Rox The House

Who Rox The House will be the main danger here. A winner at Wingatui on her last start a month ago, that is the strongest form in the field. She takes a drop down in distance and it remains to be seen if that will suit. She has had one crack over this trip and failed to place. The slow ground could suit.

VALUE BET – Explosive Lass

Explosive Lass should be competitive here. A veteran of 46 starts, she heads into this race having placed at Riccarton Park last time out. She hasn’t won for almost two years which is a huge concern but had two placed efforts from four starts here. Connections will hope she’s in the mix here.

BEST BET – Sacred Mist

In the sixth race of the day Sacred Mist is likely to be a contender. A winner two starts ago, she found life at Riverton a little tricky and finished back down the field. A return to this level is a major positive and she could be the one to beat.

THE DANGER – Aspen Voltage

Aspen Voltage rates amongst many dangers. Another horse in the lineup that won two starts ago, she is also taking a small step down in class to compete here. She is a little awkwardly drawn and that could count against her but she will give her running.

VALUE BET – Kaz Caz

Our long shot of the day is Kaz Caz. After eleven runs she finally broke her maiden with a good performance at Timaru. She has less weight to carry for that win and is well drawn. The penny may have finally dropped and she could outrun her odds.
