Our best bet of the day comes in the second race of the day where Gin And Bare It could take all of the beating. She has had two career starts and has finished second on both occasions. That form is the best in this field and she may have been found the perfect opportunity to get off the mark.

THE DANGER – Naulahka

Naulahka is one to monitor in the market. A newcomer who represents a yard that can ready one for debut, this race isn’t deep and she won’t have to be too special to be amongst the places.

VALUE BET – Toss

The value play of the contest could lie with Toss. There could still be improvement on the way after her debut fifth. The way she finished caught the eye and she might be wiser here after her debut run.

The Rotura Club Maiden (1400m)

BEST BET – Chappy

Chappy has a very similar profile to Gin And Bare It and looks to have been found a great chance to get off the mark. A debut seventh has been followed up by three consecutive placed efforts which include two seconds. The experienced Craig Grylls takes the reigns here and he is the one to beat.

THE DANGER – Sneaky Cyclone

A ten race maiden doesn’t inspire a whole deal of confidence but Sneaky Cyclone could finally poke his head in front here in what isn’t the deepest of races. After trying different distances 1400m seems to be his preferred and those placed efforts have come over this trip. Whilst he may be exposed, this won’t take a tonne of winning.

VALUE BET – Winter Rose

In a race of this nature there are several horses capable of competing for the places and one of those could be Winter Rose. Her fourth place on debut offered more than it showed, drawn wide she showed good pace to get in the mix and only finished a few lengths behind Feint to East. She has another wide berth to contend with here, but she can’t be ruled out.

NZ Farmers Livestock Handicap (1560m)

Did The Trick – 14.00

BEST BET – Sacred Zed

In the sixth race of the day Sacred Zed will start as the favourite and looks to have a great chance of winning for the second time. He ran a great race to finish just behind Don’s Legacy last time out at Woodville and a repeat of that performance will see him go close here.

THE DANGER – Red Pearl

Red Pearl could be a danger here. She has only made seven starts and compared to most in this lineup is unexposed and could still have improvement in her locker. Having won on her second start, she has now gone five runs without a win but looked back to her best when finishing third at Cambridge two weeks ago. She may have turned the corner and a big run can be expected here.

VALUE BET – Did The Trick

Did The Trick has won three of his twenty five starts, with that last win coming three starts ago at Matamata. Since that win he has been moved up in grade and has struggled a little, here he to his last winning level and should be bang in the mix. Likely to try and win from near the pace, if the pace holds he could be the one to be on. He carries more weight here than his last run which is one of the major question marks.
