Although we don’t like to post short priced favourites, it’s hard to look past Gin and Bare It in the second race of the day. Two seconds to kick off her career, were then bettered by a taking victory last time out. She has plenty of speed and has a decent draw, she sets the standard.

THE DANGER – Confectionist

The leading danger could well be Confectionist. Although yet to win, she has placed in three of her eight starts including last time out when she was second at Tauranga. This is a similar standard affair and she should be competitive once more.

VALUE BET – Portland

Portland could represent some value. A winner of two of her 13 races, which have come from her past three starts, she is thriving at the moment and could be overpriced. She has the plum draw and should have the early speed to contend. There is lots to like.

Colgate – 6.00

Septima – 18.00

BEST BET – Colgate

After finishing second on debut, there is plenty to like about Colgate. He should be wiser here and with this race representing a small step down in class, he has to be in the conversation despite the presence of others at the top of the market.

THE DANGER – Just Go Boom

Just Go Boom will be taking to the track for a sixth time but has plenty to prove. Having exclusively done all his racing at a higher level, connections will hope this easing in grade will help, but he won’t have it all his own way.

VALUE BET – Septima

Septima was a no show on debut but hails from a powerful yard. Craig Grylls takes the ride and this smaller field should help. Although there isn’t a tonne to go off, he can’t be ruled out and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him run a big race.

Final Reason – 8.50

Joanna – 11.00

BEST BET – Elle McFab

In the final race of the day Elle McFab will have her followers. Having won early in her career she has now gone six starts without a win, but she showed real improvement last time out at Arawa Park where she was unlucky not to win. The more it rains, the better her chances.

THE DANGER – Final Reason

Final Reason will need to improve on her last run where she finished fourth if she is to be in the mix here. However, she is unexposed compared to most in this lineup and could well have further improvement to come. There is plenty to like and it would be wrong to dismiss.

VALUE BET – Joanna

Our long shot bet of the day is Joanna. A winner to break her maiden last time out, that win was a bit of a surprise. There is no guarantee she will back that up here, and she has a wide draw to contend with. However, she is in good heart and could go well again.
