Geneva Queen – 6.00

Zippidy – 8.50

BEST BET – Zaharias

Race 3 looks like it will be a shootout between Zaharias and Geneva Queen who are two horses trained by Mark Walker and Sam Bergerson. Zaharias will start as the favourite, a four-runner maiden, she has placed in three of those races. Having competed in much tougher races than this, punters will hope a five-month absence won’t limit her chances.

THE DANGER – Geneva Queen

Zaharias’ stable mate is Geneva Queen. Also returning to the track after a lengthy absence, her level of form isn’t as strong as Zaharias, however her debut second is amongst the best form on offer. If she can reproduce that, she can’t be discounted.

VALUE BET – Zippidy

Zippidy could be the value option. Having raced just twice, her debut third is a decent bit of form, she couldn’t follow that up last time out with a disappointing sixth place finish. She has been off the track for a total of six months but could be a danger at a bit of a price.

Waharoa Industrial Park Handicap (1400m)

Typhoon Lucy – 1.95

She’s A Surprise – 8.00

Savina – 14.00

BEST BET – Typhoon Lucy

Typhoon Lucy will be a warm favourite in the seventh race of the day. Another Walker and Bergerson horse, she is resuming after a 25-week break. She broke her maiden well at Matamata last time out and has the strongest form in the race. As long as she is fit enough, she could be good enough.

THE DANGER – She’s A Surprise

She’s A Surprise will hope to live up to her name and overturn Typhoon Lucy. Having just taken to the track four times, she has a win which came at Tauranga in July. Unlike Typhoon Lucy, she has been racing recently and although she doesn’t have the wins, she will have a fitness advantage over her rivals.

VALUE BET – Savina

Savina has tasted success just once in the nine races that she has competed in, however, the bulk of those races have come at a metro grade of racing and this could be easier. She is another who has had a long time off the track but could be dangerous if she is able to produce her best.

Waharoa Transport Co (1995) Ltd Maiden (1400m)

Coniston – 1.70

Concurrence – 8.00

Powhiri – 13.00

BEST BET – Coniston

In the opening race of the day Coniston will be the heavy favourite and will be the punters choice to get their day off to the perfect start. Although he could only finish seventh on debut, that came in a much tougher race than this and many believe he will kick on from that experience here.

THE DANGER – Concurrence

Concurrence could be the danger and is amongst some of the best-bred newcomers in this field. He represents top class connections and this race won’t require a huge amount of winning. If ready, he could be good enough.

VALUE BET – Powhiri

Powhiri is our long shot play of the day, and we think he could outrun her odds. Having competed in a Grade 3 contest and having ran well in Open company he has a strong level of form. He won’t need to improve massively to make an impression.
