Our best bet of the day comes in the fourth race of the day and Confectionist will be a popular selection. Yet to win after eight starts; she has placed in three of those contests and heads into this contest off the back of two consecutive second place efforts. Her form is amongst the best in the race and she will be tough to beat.

THE DANGER – Requisite

Requisite could be the danger here. A ten race maiden, he has placed in 40% of his starts but heads here after two poor runs that saw him finish well down the field. On his day, he will be more than competitive, but he will need to step up on those last two efforts to be in the mix.

VALUE BET – Girlzgirlzgirlz

There are several horses in this lineup who look massively exposed but at the other end of the spectrum is Girlzgirlzgirlz. Having just made one start, her fourth place on debut offers plenty of encouragement and if she takes a leap forward here she could be right in the mix.

Barrie Duckworth Memorial Maiden (1600m)

After nine runs without a win, this could finally be the time for The Mailman. Having struggled through the early part of his career he has placed in two of his last three starts and seems to be finally getting the hang of things. This is winnable and he is one to watch.

THE DANGER – Da Ace

Da Ace is another who has experienced several near misses of late and will hope to go one better here. Placed in three of his last four, he is the most consistent horse in this field and should go close if running to his level.

VALUE BET – Dun Talkin

Those at the top of the market have to be considered vulnerable and at a decent price Dun Talkin definitely makes some appeal. A seven runner maiden, he started his career with two thirds and was then unlucky last time out when he just missed out on the win at Te Aroha. A repeat of that will see him go close.

On the final race of the card there are many who look to have a chance. Final Reason will start at a double figure price but there is a lot to like. After a pair of debut 6th placed efforts to start her career, she turned the tables when winning last time out at Te Aroha. She flashed home late then and will hope to do something similar this time around.

THE DANGER – So Be It

Despite so many horses being in with a chance here, So Be It could be one to mark your card with. Unexposed compared to most in this lineup, she shed her maiden tag last time out at Matamata and has been given a little break since. She carries less weight here than she did when winning that race and has to be respected.

VALUE BET – Camacho

Camacho is our value play of the day and there are hopes that he could run into a place here. A winner three starts ago, he is flexible trip wise and returns to a distance that should see him in a better light than his last two disappointing efforts.
