Wednesday Racing Tips - Pukekura Raceway 31/12/25

Whilst Tregor doesn’t come into this race with winning form, the Jason Collett trained horse takes a step down in class here. Although off the track for three months, the conditions that await him should be perfect and a big run can be expected on his return.

THE DANGER – El Viento

El Viento is a last time out winner and landed the fourth race of his career. Whilst he represents top connections, we do whether the heavy track could cause issues. Most of his winning has come on a sounder surface, he is up against a mud lover in Tregor and if the rain comes hard, he might be up against it.

VALUE BET – Rua Rocks

The value play comes from Rua Rocks. The most experienced horse in the field, he has posted the most prize money and could put that experience to good use here. A three time winner here, he loves conditions and can’t be ruled out.

She’s All That – 7.00

Sesimbra – 7.00

BEST BET – She’s All That

The sixth race of the day is arguably the most competitive of Wednesday’s card. A chance is taken with She’s All That. Although she may not even start in the top two in the betting, she is race fit in comparison to her rivals and should absolutely love the ground. With conditions to suit, we think she can outrun her odds.

THE DANGER – Komocean

The undoubted danger is Komocean. She is taking a step down in class here but is hitting the track for the first time in four months. If she runs to her best, she will win, however,  a heavy track awaits and with race fit rivals to overcome, it could be tough for her to poke her head in front.

VALUE BET – Sesimbra

Sesimbra is likely to feature heavily in the betting and this well-bred mare can certainly play a major role in proceedings. She returns to racing having been off the track for three months, but she should relish conditions and will be a danger to all if running to her best.

Ball Room Blitz – 3.80

Innocent Victim – 16.00

BEST BET – Sir Bruce

Sir Bruce is somewhat of a specialist around Pukekura Raceway with his last three starts yielding one victory and two runner up efforts. His best results have come on a softer track and that is what he will encounter here.  A narrow runner up at the course on his last start, another big run can be expected.

THE DANGER – Ballroom Blitz

By the time the race jumps it could be Ballroom Blitz who is the one they all need to beat. She is a previous winner at the track and almost doubled her tally with a narrow second place effort when last seen. Conditions won’t hold any fears, and she should be firmly in reckoning of any pre-race calculations.

VALUE BET – Innocent Victim

Our long shot of the day and our final pick of 2025 is Innocent Victim. He has run twice at the track and did finish second in his last start here. A winner two starts ago, he arrives with some decent form in the book. He has form to find with those at the top end of the market but could run a big race here.
