BEST BET - Call To Arms

Our best bet of the day comes in the third race of the day where Call To Armscould take all of the beating. Having had five months off the track he returned with a respectable fourth of fourteen at Oamaru a few weeks ago. With that run behind him, another big effort can be expected.

THE DANGER - Globalist

Globalist will be the main threat. Having just had the three runs he has placed in his last two starts including last time out at Oamaru where he finished two places ahead of Call To Arms. Connections will take hope from that effort and will want a similar result to take place here.

VALUE BET - Vienna Game

The value play of the contest could lie with Vienna Game. A four race maiden, he had shown next to nothing in his three starts, before showing good improvement last time out where he finished fourth. A likely front runner, he is reasonably drawn and could give this a good go.

Purple Prose – 3.20

Proserve – 4.40

Private Treaty – 8.00

BEST BET - Proserve

Although he might not start as the favourite, Proserve is seeking a hat trick of victories and this is a track he knows well. Having won four times and having placed twice from his six runs he won’t be phased by the depth of runners here. He’s in the form of his life and can’t be discounted.

THE DANGER - Purple Prose

Purple Prose is another who goes exceptionally well here having also won on four occasions. He represents some top connections and it’s likely that he will jump as the favourite. He could prove to be a class apart if afforded things all his own way.

VALUE BET - Private Treaty

In what could be the hardest race of the day to call, Private Treaty looks to be an excellent value angle. Although only a winner once from 24 starts, that win did come last time out, and it was done here at the track. More could well come here. There’s no guarantee that he will follow that victory up, but he could be thriving at the minute.

Voguish – 4.60

Rekindle – 9.50

Fah Rong – 23.00

BEST BET - Voguish

The eighth race of the day is stacked where many horses can win, however Voguish will be near the top of that list. Fairly unexposed compared to most in this field, she shed her maiden tag last time out here and has placed on a further occasion. There could be more to come, although this is far tougher.

THE DANGER - Rekindle

Rekindle could be one of many dangers and she is another one who heads into the race fresh off the back of a victory which came here. Although not as prolific as others here, with one win and one place from six starts, the penny might have finally dropped. She is a bonafide front runner and will try and run them ragged from on the pace.

VALUE BET - Fah Rong

At a massive price Fah Rong could be a contender. He shed his maiden here two starts ago and then ran no sort of race last time upped in grade. A return to this level has to be seen a positive and if his last run can be discounted his form is right up with the principals.
