Another track lover is Red Ned. He has run here three times and has placed second and third on two of those occasions. He has work to do with the horses at the top of the market but could be an option at a decent price.

The sixth race of the day looks incredibly competitive, but Procul Boy will be popular with the bettors. Having raced at a much higher level and grade than this in his last two runs, connections will hope that a return to these calmer waters will see a much stronger performance.

THE DANGER – Rusty Lane

Another class dropper is Rusty Lane, and he could easily play a part here. It’s been over a year since he last won, but he has placed in two of his last three and looks to be rounding into form. This represents a great chance for him to get another win on the board.

VALUE BET – Taimate Diva

Taimate Diva looks a superb value option. A winner nine weeks ago, she was unlucky not to have won at long odds on her last start at Riverton at the start of the month. She is in great form and could serve it up to the favourites here.

In the fourth race of the day Timex is likely to jump off as the short price favourite. Yet to break her maiden after four attempts, she came close last time out Otaki and will look to build on that here.

THE DANGER – Allaru

In a hugely open race, Allaru could be worth monitoring. She has struggled in recent times, finishing well down the field, but her second run which saw her finish second at Hawera. If she can repeat that performance here, she could outrun her odds here.

VALUE BET – Scotty

Scotty looks to be a player at a great price. A seven-runner maiden, he has placed twice in that period and has form which is comparable with those at the top of the market. In a weak looking race, he has a chance to place and could go close.
