NRL Round 12

NRL 2025 Round 12

It’s the State of Origin period, meaning there are only five games this round and some of the best players are missing. Despite this, it’s still going to be a cracker of a round, including when the second-placed Warriors take on the third-placed Raiders. The Bulldogs remain at the top of the table, with 20 points and on the flip side, the Titans are at the bottom with eight points (the Eels, Knights and Dolphins all have eight points as well).

Round 12 awaits, so let’s get stuck into some 2025 NRL predictions for all the action!

Canterbury Bulldogs vs Dolphins

tip

Both teams are set to miss some key players due to their respective Origin call-ups. The Bulldogs are set to lose their captain, Stephen Crichton, while the Dolphins will lose Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow. On top of this, both teams are also losing key players to injury, so this should be an interesting clash. It’s hard to go past the Bulldogs, though, especially at Accor Stadium. There is a little bit of an unknown about this game, though, with all the key players missing.

The Bulldogs seemed to have bounced back well from their 18-42 loss to the Broncos and have since strung together three straight wins against the Titans, Raiders and Roosters, with the latter two resulting in comeback victories. After a win against the Eels, the Dolphins took on the Warriors at Suncorp Stadium. Despite a late finish by the Dolphins that saw them score their only tries in the last 10 minutes of the game, it wasn’t enough.

The Dolphins Dolphins - Kurt Donoghoe, Jamayne Isaako, Jake Averillo, Herbie Farnworth, Jack Bostock, Kodi Nikorima, Isaiya Katoa, Daniel Saifiti, Jeremy Marshall-King, Felise Kaufusi, Kulikefu Finefeuiaki, Connelly Lemuelu, Ray Stone, Harrison Graham, Mark Nicholls, Francis Molo & Josh Kerr

Parramatta Eels vs Manly Sea Eagles

tip

Once again, both teams will be missing some key players due to Origin and injury. For the Eels, we see Zac Lomax and Mitch Moses getting the call up for the Blues and for the Sea Eagles, Daly Cherry-Evans is out for this game as he is the captain of the Maroons, plus Jake Trbojevic is out due to injury. Tom Trbojevic was overlooked for Origin honours though, so that might fire him up a little bit.

The Eels and Sea Eagles have already met this year, which resulted in a 26-12 win for the Sea Eagles. Both teams enjoyed good performances last time out with the Eels beating the Knights, 28-6 and the Sea Eagles beating the Cowboys 24-6. With the Eels missing both Lomax and Moses, who have major impacts on the game, this could get a little ugly. With all the players out for both teams, I think the Sea Eagles have the better team.

Key NRL Betting Influencers - Round 12

A lot is happening this round, but here are the key factors that will most likely impact your bets:

  1. The Panthers, like always, are missing several key players due to Origin. They should be well-prepared, considering this happens to them every year and it’s hard to see how the Knights can stay in the fight for this.
  2. The Roosters and Sharks piled on 68 points the last time the two played each other. If the weather is decent enough, both teams have enough star power left in their line-ups to treat fans to another high-scoring affair.
  3. Origin hasn’t impacted the Raiders as much as I thought it would, with only Hudson Young missing. They make the trip to New Zealand, but they are a more complete side and I think they can cause the upset.

Penrith Panthers vs Newcastle Knights

tip

Despite being near the bottom of the ladder, the Panthers have to be the most decimated team for Origin, with the likes of Dylan Edwards, Brian To'o, Nathan Cleary, Liam Martin and Isaah Yeo all set to miss this match. For the Knights, they are missing Kalyn Ponga due to Origin duties and Greg Marzhew and Bradman Best due to injuries. The Panthers have always been decimated by Origin, so they should be well-equipped for this.

It’s not like the Knights aren’t missing some stars of their own as well and the way they have been playing as of late, the Panthers are the better side. The Panthers come into this one well rested after missing Round 11 following their 30-30 draw with the Cowboys. Meanwhile, the Knights were awful against the Eels, losing 6-28. The Panthers are the heavy favourites and I think they’ll get a convincing win.

Sydney Roosters vs Cronulla Sharks

tip

In the second last game of the round, the Roosters look set to miss Spencer Leniu, Connor Watson, Angus Crichton and Lindsay Collins due to Origin call-ups and they will also miss Naufahu Whyte due to injury. For the Sharks, Sam Stonestreet and Jesse Ramien are out of this game due to injury, but they have no players missing due to Origin. On paper, these two teams still have a lot of star power left and this could be a great match.

Last time these two played, it resulted in a 38-30 win for the Sharks. They are playing at Gosford, so it’s somewhat of a neutral game and as long as the rain stays away, this one could be a high-scoring affair. The Roosters got out of the blocks well last time out against the Bulldogs, but it ended in a 20-24 loss. For the Sharks, they come into this game riding a three-game winning streak, including wins over the Eels, Sea Eagles and the Storm.

New Zealand Warriors vs Canberra Raiders

tip

Saving the best for last when we see the second-placed Warriors face off against the third-placed Raiders on Sunday afternoon. The Warriors are set to miss Mitch Barnett due to Origin duties and James Fisher-Harris has a one-match ban. For the Raiders, they will miss Hudson Young, who steps up for Origin duties, while Xavier Savage and Corey Horsburgh were overlooked by the Maroons, so this really does work in the favour of the Raiders.

The two teams have already played this season, with the Raiders getting a 30-8 victory in Las Vegas. The Warriors look like a different team now, though, winning five on the trot. The Raiders are also flying high, winning four of their last five. Despite the Warriors playing at home, I’m going to tip the upset here. I think the Raiders have a more complete package and the cold weather certainly won’t bother them.
