NRL Round 19

NRL 2025 Round 19

The deciding Origin game will take place on Wednesday, so all eyes will be on each team’s respective Origin players and if they manage to back up for their club. The Bulldogs lost again last round, dropping them down another spot on the ladder, to third, with the Raiders in first and Storm in second. The Titans remain at the bottom of the ladder, with 14 points, and the Rabbitohs also have 14 points, but with a better points differential.

Round 19 awaits, so let’s get stuck into some 2025 NRL predictions for all the action!

Cronulla Sharks vs Dolphins

tip

To kick things off, we see the Sharks face off against the Dolphins. The Sharks haven’t exactly been having the easiest run of things lately and have lost four of their last five games. They have also lost their last two games against the Dolphins. Now, the Sharks are sitting outside the top eight, in 10th spot. Most recently, they lost to the Storm, 6-30, and Broncos, 28.24.

The Dolphins are experiencing a fairly good run of things as of late, with their only loss in their last five games coming at the hands of the Kings, 20-26. They have beaten the Rabbitohs, Cowboys, Dragons and Bulldogs recently. I’m expecting Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow to back up from Origin, so that will be a good boost to their chances. However, Kodi Nikorima will be out after injuring his hamstring in Round 17.

BookmakerKatherine’s TipOdds

The Dolphins Dolphins - Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, Jamayne Isaako, Jake Averillo, Herbie Farnworth, Max Feagai, Sean O'Sullivan, Isaiya Katoa, Francis Molo, Jeremy Marshall-King, Mark Nicholls, Kulikefu Finefeuiaki, Oryn Keeley, Kurt Donoghoe, Ray Stone, Connelly Lemuelu, Josh Kerr & Aublix Tawha

Newcastle Knights vs Melbourne Storm

tip

Kalyn Ponga’s season looks all but over after suffering a serious foot injury in Round 17, and he won’t be playing Origin either. It is a massive blow to the Knights' top eight chances, which were already hanging by a thread. They do look set to welcome back both Greg Marzhew and Leo Thompson, which will help. However, they are up against one of the best in the league, the Storm, so it looks like an uphill battle.

For the Storm, it’s unclear which players will back up, with the likes of Xavier Coates, Harry Grant, and Cameron Munster the most likely to give this game a miss. The Knights put up a good fight against the Raiders last time out, but couldn’t get the job done, going down 18-22. Meanwhile, the Storm is on a five-game winning streak. With Ponga out, this one looks like an easy Storm win.

St. George Illawarra Dragons vs Sydney Roosters

tip

After winning just two of their last five games, the Dragons will be looking to get the win here over the Roosters, who suffered a shock loss to the Tigers last time out. Valentine Holmes is the only Origin rep for the Dragons and should play for his club on Saturday. Luciano Leilua and Hamish Stewart should also return for the Dragons after overcoming injuries, which is a welcome boost.

The Roosters have dominated this matchup in the past, winning 46-18 and 42-12 in their last two meetings. I also expect Trent Robinson to name all his Origin stars in the 17 for this clash. The likes of Robert Toia, Lindsay Collins, Spencer Leniu, Connor Watson and Angus Crichton should all come back into the fold. I think there is the potential for a lot of points, especially from the Roosters, in this game.

Key NRL Betting Influencers - Round 19

A lot is happening this round, but here are the key factors that will most likely impact your bets:

  1. The Dolphins are playing on the road, but they look like the much more consistent team and have beaten the Sharks in their last two meetings. I'm tipping the upset here.
  2. Ponga is out for the season for the Knights, which is a massive blow. The Storm are firing on all cylinders, expect a big win from them here.
  3. The last two games between the Titans and Broncos have been high-scoring (44-14 and 46-18), expect more of the same in this Sunday night clash.

North Queensland Cowboys vs Canterbury Bulldogs

tip

For the final Saturday game of the round, we head up to Queensland Country Bank Stadium, where we see the Cowboys take on the Bulldogs. Both teams will be desperate for a win, with the Cowboys winning just one of their last five and the Bulldogs winning two of their last five. The Cowboys look set to welcome back their Origin stars, including the likes of Tom Dearden, Reece Robson, Jeremiah Nanai and Reuben Cotter.

The same goes for the Bulldogs, who should welcome back Jacob Kiraz, Stephen Crichton, Max King and Kurt Mann. With two teams that are on a little bit of a wobble, I think this game will be close. The Bulldogs are more than likely going to triumph in the end, but the Cowboys have the players to keep this one within touching distance. The Bulldogs have also only won 33% of their games in North Queensland.

New Zealand Warriors vs Wests Tigers

tip

After a shock win over the Roosters last time out, can the Tigers back it up again and cause another shock in front of the Warriors' home crowd? They were without their three best players in that game, and it looks like they’ll welcome Jarome Luai and Api Koroisau back (with Jahream Bula still on the sidelines due to a hamstring injury). This looks to be a tougher test this time out, though, as they make the trip across the ditch to play the Warriors, who currently sit in the top four.

Not a lot went right for the Warriors last time out, with so many players going down injured in their loss to the Broncos. Luke Metcalf is out for the rest of the season, and Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad is also out. The Warriors and Tigers have already played once this season, in Round 4, and the Warriors got a narrow 26-24 win. I just can’t tip the Tigers here, considering they are very inconsistent and playing away from home.

Parramatta Eels vs Penrith Panthers

tip

It’s the battle of the west when we see the Eels welcome the Panthers to CommBank Stadium. Zac Lomax is expected to back up for the Eels from Origin duties. For the Panthers, we should also see the likes of Dylan Edwards, Brian To'o, Nathan Cleary, Liam Martin and Isaah Yeo all back up as well. The Eels have won only two of their last five games, with wins over the Titans and Sea Eagles.

Meanwhile, the Panthers have well and truly found their groove in the 2025 season and have notched up four wins in a row over the Bulldogs, Warriors, Tigers and Eels. That’s right, the Eels and Panthers only recently played each other (Round 13), and it was the Panthers that won 18-10. It’s a big spread for the Panthers to cover, but I think they’ll be hungry to continue to prove a point that they’re one of the best teams in the league.

Gold Coast Titans vs Brisbane Broncos

tip

To wrap Round 19 up, we have little brother versus big brother when the Titans welcome the Broncos to Cbus Super Stadium. The Titans are sitting last on the ladder and have won just one of their last five games, which was against the Sea Eagles, 28-8. Tino Fa'asuamaleaui is the only Origin rep for the Titans, and he should play on Sunday night. The likes of Jayden Campbell and David Fifita should also return for the Titans.

For the Broncos, they should welcome back all their Origin players, including Reece Walsh, Gehamat Shibasaki, Payne Haas and Patrick Carrigan. They have also won four games in a row over the Bulldogs, Warriors, Sharks and Titans, shooting them up to fifth spot on the ladder. These two teams just played each other in Round 14, with the Broncos getting a 44-14 win. Expect more points in this Sunday clash.
