NRL Round 24

NRL 2025 Round 24

With just four rounds left in the regular season, some teams are out of finals contention, while others are fighting tooth and nail to make it into the top eight. There are a few key clashes this round to keep an eye on, as they may have major repercussions for the top eight (and even top four). The Raiders are still sitting pretty at the top of the ladder, with 38 points. The Titans are the current wooden spoon holders after going down to the Rabbitohs last time out.

Round 24 awaits, so let’s get stuck into some 2025 NRL predictions for all the action!

Penrith Panthers vs Melbourne Storm

tip

Looks like we’re saving the best for first! The Panthers and the Storm kick off Round 24, and this could be a preview of a finals clash in a couple of weeks. The Storm love playing on a Thursday night, but they come into this game as the slight underdogs. The Panthers are currently on a nine-game winning streak, while the Storm have won four of their last five and kept the Broncos tryless last time out.

The 2024 Grand Finalists have met once so far this season, which resulted in a 30-24 victory to the Storm in Round 3. We have two high-class teams that are running hot here, so it’s difficult to pick one team over the other. In games like this, I like to look into the total points. Both teams have good attacks, but in a tight tussle like this, it’s usually the defence that shines through, so take the unders.

BookmakerKatherine’s TipOdds
PlayUpTotal points - Under 42.5 $1.85
PicklebetTotal points - Under 42.5 $1.90
bet365Total points - Under 42.5$1.91

Melbourne Storm NRLMelbourne Storm - Ryan Papenhuyzen, Grant Anderson, Joe Chan, Nick Meaney, Xavier Coates, Cameron Munster, Tyran Wishart, Stefano Utoikamanu, Harry Grant, Josh King, Shawn Blore, Eli Katoa, Trent Loiero, Jonah Pezet, Ativalu Lisati, Tui Kamikamica & Alec MacDonald

New Zealand Warriors vs St. George Illawarra Dragons

tip

The Warriors, who are sitting in fifth spot on the ladder, welcome the Dragons, who are sitting in 11th spot on the ladder, to New Zealand to kick off Friday's games. The Warriors have picked the worst time to go on a little bit of a slide, and they have now lost three games in a row, meaning they are outside of the top four. Meanwhile, the Dragons have won two in a row, over the Raiders and Sharks, but have they left their run a little too late?

The Dragons sit on 22 points and would not only have to win pretty much all of their last games, but they would also need other results to go their way. But there is still a little bit of hope, and that’s a lot to play for. These two teams faced off in Round 10, when the Warriors claimed a 15-14 win. Te Maire Martin joins a long list of Warriors players on the sidelines, and for the Dragons, Moses Suli looks to be out after suffering a knee injury.

Sydney Roosters vs Canterbury Bulldogs

tip

The bottom of the top eight is a very congested place at the moment, and it is quite likely that points differential could determine who goes through to the finals and who misses out. The Roosters are currently sitting in ninth spot on the ladder, on equal points with the Dolphins (in eighth spot), but with a worse differential. This means a win here is very important, but up against the Bulldogs, it won’t be an easy task.

The Bulldogs are in third spot on the ladder and have won four of their last five games, with their only loss coming at the hands of the Tigers. The teams have already played each other once this season, where the Bulldogs got the better of the Roosters, 24-20, in Round 11. The Roosters seem to have a lot more to play for and have won their last two games by large margins. I’m expecting an ambush by the Roosters here, and an upset is certainly on the cards.

Key NRL Betting Influencers - Round 24

A lot is happening this round, but here are the key factors that will most likely impact your bets:

  1. The Dragons may be playing on the road in New Zealand, but these are two teams that seem to be heading in opposite directions. With the Dragons holding onto a slim finals hope, I think they’ll be able to keep this one close.
  2. The Roosters have a lot more to play for and have had back-to-back convincing wins over the Dolphins and Sea Eagles. I’m sniffing an upset here over the Bulldogs, who haven’t been as reliable as late.
  3. Neither the Broncos nor the Dolphins have been reliable this season. However, with so many key players missing from the Broncos’ line-up, I’m taking the Dolphins to over the spread as the underdogs.

Cronulla Sharks vs Gold Coast Titans

tip

To kick things off on Saturday, we have the Sharks welcoming the Titans to Sharks Stadium. The Sharks are currently holding on to a top-eight spot, but only just, in seventh position. The bottom of the top eight is jam-packed, and a loss here could potentially drop them out of the top eight. They are, however, coming up against the Titans, who are at the bottom of the ladder right now.

The Sharks didn’t do themselves any favours last time out, going down to the Dragons 14-22. The Titans have won just one of their last five games, with their sole win coming against the Warriors. Briton Nikora looks to be out for the Sharks after being charged for a high tackle. Meanwhile, Alofiana Khan-Pereira and Brian Kelly both picked up injuries in the Titans’ last game, but they could welcome back Phillip Sami, who looks set to return after a concussion.

Brisbane Broncos vs Dolphins

tip

It’s big brother versus little brother when the Broncos and Dolphins face off at Suncorp Stadium. This game has the potential to be a four-point swing to the team that wins, as the Broncos are in sixth spot with 28 points, and the Dolphins are in eighth spot with 26 points. These teams have played once so far this season, back in Round 4, when the Broncos won, 20-12.

Both teams have won three of their last five games, and they both suffered losses last time out. The Broncos went down to the Storm, 2-22, and the Dolphins fell to the Roosters, 12-64. It was an awful game of injuries for the Broncos last time out, with Selwyn Cobbo, Ezra Mam and Adam Reynolds all suffering hamstring injuries. For the Dolphins, it looks like Francis Molo will serve a one-match suspension for a dangerous tackle in his last game.

South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Parramatta Eels

tip

The last game on Saturday sees two teams that are out of finals contention face off. The Eels still have a very slim mathematical chance, but you’d have more luck winning the lotto, I reckon! Both teams are still playing for pride, though and managed narrow victories in their last game. The Rabbitohs got a 20-18 victory over the Titans, and the Eels got a 19-18 win over the Cowboys.

We haven’t seen the Rabbitohs and Eels play each other this season yet, but the Rabbitohs have won the last two clashes over the Eels. The Rabbitohs welcomed back Latrell Mitchell for the last time, and it was an impressive return. However, they still have several key players out, with many of them out for the remainder of the season. With so many injuries for the Rabbitohs, I have to go with the Eels for this one, who have played well in their last three games.

Wests Tigers vs Manly Sea Eagles

tip

Both the Tigers and Sea Eagles sit outside the top eight, but it’s the Sea Eagles with the better chance of making the eight. The Tigers aren’t completely out of it, but would not only need wins, but also other results to go their way. A loss here for the Tigers all but ends their season, I reckon. A win for the Sea Eagles keeps their hopes of a top-eight finish well and truly alive.

The Tigers were able to put their feet up last round, after a surprising 28-14 win over the Bulldogs. Meanwhile, the Sea Eagles are on somewhat of a slide as of late, and have lost their last three games in a row. Their losses have been pretty convincing as well, 4-42 to the Bulldogs, 4-20 to the Roosters and 12-28 to the Raiders. Those are some tough teams, and the Tigers look a little easier to beat, but I think the Tigers will still keep this one close.

North Queensland Cowboys vs Newcastle Knights

tip

Wrapping up Round 24, we have two teams that are playing for pride. The Cowboys play host to the Knights, who travel up to Queensland Country Bank Stadium. The Cowboys are in 14th spot on the ladder, and with their points differential, there’s little chance of them making the finals. With 18 points and a terrible points differential, the Knights are out of finals contention as well.

The Cowboys have won one of their last five games, while the Knights have lost their last five. Jordan McLean, Sam McIntyre, Karl Lawton and Thomas Mikaele all look set to return for the Cowboys. That’s a welcome boost, and playing in front of their home crowd, I’m expecting a good game from the Cowboys, who only just went down to the Eels last time out, 18-19.
