NRL 2025 Round 27

The final round of the 2025 regular season has arrived! There is just one spot in the top eight that’s still up for grabs. Right now, the Roosters are holding onto that spot, but the Dolphins and Sea Eagles are still in with a shout. The Raiders managed to clinch the Minor Premiership last time out with a win over the Tigers. Meanwhile, the Titans have one more game to try and chalk up a win to avoid the wooden spoon.

Round 27 awaits, so let’s get stuck into some 2025 NRL predictions for all the action!

Brisbane Broncos vs Melbourne Storm

tip

We kick off the final round with a top-four clash. With the Broncos sitting in fourth spot on the ladder, a win here means they lock in that spot and get two bites at the cherry come the finals series. A few key players are still out for the Broncos, including the likes of Adam Reynolds, Xavier Willison, Selwyn Cobbo and Ezra Mam. The Storm may lose their top two spot to the Bulldogs if they lose here (and the Bulldogs win their game).

The Melbourne side conceded 40 unanswered points in the second half against the Roosters, which put a little dent in their points differential. Jahrome Hughes looks to return in this game from injury, while Xavier Coates, Nick Meaney, Eli Katoa and Josh King are back after being rested last time out. In the Broncos’ last game, they managed to scrape home against the Cowboys. The Storm recently beat the Broncos, 22-2, in Round 23.

BookmakerKatherine’s TipOdds
PlayUpStorm to win $1.81
PicklebetStorm to win $1.80
bet365Storm to win$1.82

Predicted Squads

Melbourne Storm NRLMelbourne Storm - Ryan Papenhuyzen, Will Warbrick, Jack Howarth, Nick Meaney, Xavier Coates, Cameron Munster, Jahrome Hughes, Stefano Utoikamanu, Bronson Garlick, Josh King, Shawn Blore, Eli Katoa, Trent Loiero, Tyran Wishart, Alec MacDonald, Tui Kamakimica & Ativalu Lisati

Manly Sea Eagles vs New Zealand Warriors

tip

The Sea Eagles got the job done over the Dragons last time out, to keep their slim chances of a top-eight finish alive. They have to beat the Warriors here, and beat them by a massive margin, if they want to play finals footy. Realistically, their chances are low, but there’s still hope. Their back-to-back wins over the Dolphins and Dragons have kept them in the hunt, but going down to the Tigers in the game before that probably sealed their fate.

The Warriors went down to the Eels last time out in a surprising loss, 22-26. That loss has seen them drop outside of the top four, and they will need a few things to go their way to claw back a top-four spot. Tolutau Koula’s season is over for the Sea Eagles, thanks to an injury. With the Sea Eagles playing at home, and the Warriors a little down in the dumps, I’m giving the Sea Eagles the slight edge.

Sydney Roosters vs South Sydney Rabbitohs

tip

By the time this game rolls around, the Roosters will know if the Sea Eagles are still alive in the hunt for their final spot in the top eight. It’s simple for the Roosters; if they can win this one, they will knock out the Dolphins and Sea Eagles from finals congestion and clinch the final spot. The Roosters and Rabbitohs have always been a classic rivalry, and both teams look set to welcome back some star power.

For the Roosters, Sam Walker returns, and for the Rabbitohs, Cameron Murray and Jack Wighton could return. Looking at the way the Roosters played against the Storm last time out, in Melbourne, you’d have to give them the edge. I’m not discounting the Rabbitohs’ three-game winning streak, but their wins have come over teams lower on the ladder (Dragons, Eels, Titans).

Key NRL Betting Influencers - Round 27

A lot is happening this round, but here are the key factors that will most likely impact your bets:

  1. The Sea Eagles still have a mathematical chance of making the finals, and are playing at home for this one. The Warriors have now dropped outside the top four, thanks to a surprise loss to the Eels last time out.
  2. Arch-rivals, the Roosters and Rabbitohs, do battle once again. If the Roosters win this one, they’re in the finals. So, there’s a lot on the line, and given the way they played last time out, my money’s on them.
  3. The Raiders are officially the 2025 Minor Premiers, and they are resting a lot of their key players. The Dolphins might still be in the hunt for a finals spot, and they’re playing at home. They should win this clash.

St. George Illawarra Dragons vs Penrith Panthers

tip

Saturday’s action begins in Wollongong when the Dragons welcome the Panthers. The Dragons were disappointing against the Sea Eagles, losing 24-40. The game before that, they couldn’t even muster up a single point against the Rabbitohs. So, it looks like the Dragons just want the season to be over. They look set to remain unchanged for this clash against the Panthers.

Much like the Dragons, the Panthers have also lost their last three games in a row, but they have managed to lock in a finals spot. Coach Cleary rested pretty much all of his starters last time out against the Bulldogs, and he remains tight-lipped about whether they will return for this game. You would have to think a lot of their stars would return for this game, though, to get some game time under their belts before their elimination final.

Gold Coast Titans vs Wests Tigers

tip

The Titans and Tigers face off against each other on the Gold Coast, and if the Titans lose this clash, they will get the unwanted honour of the wooden spoon for 2025. It looks like the Titans are another team that just wants the season to be over, and they have been on a slide for a while. Last time out, they went down to the Dolphins. The Tigers put up somewhat of a fight over the Raiders, but still ended up going down 10-24.

These two teams met only a couple of weeks ago, in Round 20, when the Tigers managed a 79th-minute field goal from Doueihi to seal a one-point win. The Tigers seem to be winning against teams they aren’t expected to win (like the Bulldogs and Sea Eagles), but they are also losing to teams they shouldn’t (like the Cowboys). My money’s still on the Tigers, though, as they look like a more complete team compared to the Titans.

Canterbury Bulldogs vs Cronulla Sharks

tip

This shapes up as a fairly interesting clash, as the Bulldogs are still in the hunt for a top-two spot, while the Sharks are alive and kicking for a top-four spot. After losses to the Roosters and Storm, the Bulldogs got the win over a severely undermanned Panthers team. The Sharks have back-to-back wins in the books over the Knights and Titans, and have won four of their last five games.

These two teams have played each other once so far this season, with the Bulldogs getting the better of the Sharks, 20-6, in Round 4. Jacob Kiraz for the Bulldogs and Braydon Trindall for the Sharks look set to miss this clash, both with ankle issues. This looks like a close match, and there’s a lot on the line. Even though it’s a Bulldogs home game, I think the Sharks can get the win here as the underdogs.

Dolphins vs Canberra Raiders

tip

The Dolphins will be hoping the Rabbitohs can snag a victory over the Roosters on Friday night, because that’s the only way their finals chances will still be alive. If the Roosters do lose to the Rabbitohs, the Dolphins must win this game to have a chance (with points differential coming into play as well). As the Raiders have already clinched the Minor Premiership, they will likely rest a lot of their star players.

This gives the Dolphins a more realistic chance of winning this clash, especially considering they are playing at home as well. If the Dolphins’ finals hopes are still alive, Herbie Farnworth will likely play. The Raiders beat the Dolphins earlier in the season, 40-28, in Round 8. This looks like a completely different story, and with the Raiders resting a lot of their starters, it’s the Dolphins game to lose.

Parramatta Eels vs Newcastle Knights

tip

The final game of the 2025 regular season sees the Eels welcome the Knights to CommBank Stadium. The Eels will miss out on a finals berth this season. Meanwhile, if the Titans manage a win over the Tigers earlier in the round, the Knights will be looking for a win here so they don’t finish off with the wooden spoon. If the Titans lose, then they will finish with the spoon, and the Knights won’t get that unwanted title.

The Eels have managed to string together back-to-back wins over the Roosters and Warriors, and they have won three of their last four. On the flip side, the Knights’ slide continued, and they went down to the Sharks, 16-40, last time out. Based on form and pure motivation, you’d have to say the Eels look like the winners in this one. I think they’ll look to put on a show in front of their home crowd to finish off the season with a bang.
