Football Multi Bet

Sunday’s World Cup warm-ups have given me a football multi bet I’m happy to back. Two strong favourites and a goals market I like. Combined odds of $10.00 across three matches - with the tournament four days away, these won’t be treated as exhibitions.

USA vs Germany

Sunday June 7, 6:30am NZT, Soldier Field, Chicago

Germany are on an eight-game winning streak after putting four past Finland last weekend. Deniz Undav scored twice - once in each half - with Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala also on target. Undav took a knock when scoring his second, but Julian Nagelsmann has depth everywhere.

I’m not as sold on the US. They beat Senegal 3-2 a few days ago and Christian Pulisic finally broke a five-month goal drought, but Sadio Mane scored twice from American defensive errors. Before that, the US lost 5-2 to Belgium and 2-0 to Portugal in March. Germany won the last meeting between these sides 3-1.

At $1.70 on most football betting sites, this is where I’m starting.

Portugal vs Chile

Sunday June 7, 5:45am NZT, Estadio do Jamor, Lisbon

Portugal are at home in Lisbon and Cristiano Ronaldo will be leading close to a full-strength squad. They beat the US 2-0 in their last outing and drew 0-0 with Mexico before that - though both matches came without Ronaldo, who didn’t travel to Atlanta.

Chile copped a 4-1 beating from New Zealand in March. I’m not tipping a Portugal win here - at $1.20 there’s no point. Both teams to score is the play.

Portugal’s attack will create chances all game, and Chile, for all their problems, found the net against NZ. In a friendly with nothing riding on it, a Chilean consolation isn’t out of the question.

BTTS at $2.10 on any of the top NZ bookies is where I’m going for the second leg.

Brazil vs Egypt

Sunday June 7, 10:00am NZT, Huntington Bank Field, Cleveland

Carlo Ancelotti is almost certainly going to be without Neymar for this one after the forward picked up an injury. A two-to-three week recovery timeline means he’s expected to miss Brazil’s World Cup opener against Morocco too, though Ancelotti hasn’t officially ruled him out of that one yet.

Even so, Brazil still have Vinicius Junior - fresh off another prolific season at Real Madrid - and Raphinha in excellent form at Barcelona.

Egypt are in New Zealand’s World Cup group alongside Belgium and Iran. They’ll want competitive minutes here, but I don’t see them keeping a clean sheet against this Brazilian squad. Over 2.5 goals at $2.8 is the riskier leg, I’ll be upfront about that. Friendlies can be cagey.

But with the World Cup days away, Brazil won’t be coasting - and at $2.8 on legal betting sites, I’m willing to take a swing.
