The best racing this Saturday in New Zealand comes from Ellerslie, where the headline contest is the Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Sunline Vase.

Churmatt is our best bet of the day. Set to jump as the warm favourite in the third race of the day, this progressive type looks to have a real chance of landing the odds here. Having won on debut, he then took a big jump up in class where he ran a cracker to finish second in the Wanganui Guineas. This assignment is a little easier and he should find conditions are perfect for him here. Expect another big run.

THE DANGER – Nocturne

Nocturne is yet to get off the mark but has been steadily improving with each run. A debut 6th was then bettered by a third place effort last time out. Highly thought of, that third place effort came in the Grade 3 Northland Stud Breeders Stakes and more could come here.

VALUE BET – Why Daddy

Why Daddy is the complete outsider of the field but isn’t without a chance. Having just missed out on his debut, he badly needed the run after returning from five months off the track when finishing well down the field in the Sir Colin Meads Trophy two weeks ago. That run can be discounted and he can be a live threat here.

BEST BET – Bosch

We are taking a chance in the fourth race of the day that Bosch can land the odds. Despite the presence of Drop of Something at the top of the market, Bosch got the better of him when the pair last met and there isn’t a massive deal of evidence that the results can be overturned here. At a decent price, he could well be worth considering here.

THE DANGER – Drop of Something

Despite finishing behind Bosch last time out, Drop of Something will have plenty of followers. A winner of two of his last four starts, the other two results have yielded second place efforts. He was drawn out wide when losing to Bosch and with a better draw this time his connections will believe that he can overturn that result.

VALUE BET – Double Take

Double Take could be one to follow at a big price. A winner of two of his three last starts, he has form around the track and should run a big race. Conditions should be perfect for him and he can’t be discounted.

In the feature race of the day, Lollapalooza is expected to jump off as the favourite. Having raced four times he has improved with every run and broke his maiden at the last time of asking. That win came at a Grade 3 level and he showed how progressive he can be. More of the same should come here.

THE DANGER – Tajana

Tajana is a real threat to the entire field. A winner of two of her last three starts, she is another who is a proven operator at this level and this is certainly a race she can win. If the odds of Lollapalooza are too short for you, she looks a great alternative.

VALUE BET – Too Sweet

Too Sweet is our long shot of the day. Craig Grylls takes the ride and she has a chance of causing the upset. A winner of two of her first three starts, life has been tougher since, but she didn’t finish a mile behind Lollapalooza last time out and at four times the price, her odds are hard to ignore.
