The best of the racing this Saturday from New Zealand comes from Arawa Park where the Group 3 Rotorua Stakes and the Campbell Cup headline an action packed card.

Our Jumala is another taking a big drop down in class and the jockey booking of Craig Grylls is certainly eye catching. A winner of two of her last four starts, she looks more than capable of landing this contest.

Although his recent form isn’t the best to go off, Aljay is a proven winner at a level higher than this and could well cause a shock. These calmer waters should suit and if he can piece it altogether he should be one for the shortlist.

Tomodachi looks to be one of the very best bets of the day and is expected to jump off as the heavy favourite in the Rotorua Stakes. She has won five of her eight races and is in good form. Whilst she hasn’t won a group race yet, this represents a fantastic opportunity to get off the mark.

THE DANGER – Lux Libertas
Lux Libertas has won over a third of all her competitive starts and should give her running once again. Used to competing in races of this nature she certainly isn’t out of place and looks more than capable of giving Tomodachi a real scare.

VALUE BET – Archaic Smile
Arguably no horse arrives in better form than Archaic Smile. With one win and two second place efforts in her last three starts, she arrives here fit and raring to go. She looks like one of the very best value picks of the day.

In the Donna Memorial Handicap a chance is taken with Electric Zhou. Alongside long shot Afterglo, he is the only horse in the lineup with winning form when last seen and he looks capable of playing a big part in this race. At big odds he looks to be worth a long look.

THE DANGER – Acapelago
Acapelago is taking a step down in class for this contest and arrives with a brilliant chance. A winner of just one of his seven career starts he is by no means prolific but this represents a decent chance to get off the mark.

VALUE BET – Puzzle Master
Puzzle Master arrives at this race as one of the least exposed horses in the field and will be hopeful of pulling off the shock in this race. With two seconds and a win in three of his first four career starts, there will be high hopes that he could play a role in the most competitive race of his young career.
