The best racing this Saturday in New Zealand comes from Ellerslie where there are several highly competitive and lucrative races to enjoy, including the Grade 1 Sistema Railway.

In the Tab Karaka Millions, Kinnaird is one of our leading fancies. Unbeaten in his two starts, others arrive having had some time off the track, whereas that isn’t the case for the Mark Walker and Sam Bergeron trained colt. A winner of the Grade 2 Skycity Eclipse Stakes last time out, he can take another big step forward here. He could be one to beat.

THE DANGER – De Armas

Whilst there are several dangers and potential winners, we have picked out De Armas as one to watch. Like Kinnaird, this fillie is yet to taste defeat and she was impressive when winning Listed honours last time out. This requires more but her chances have to be respected and she would be worth a market check before the race jumps.

VALUE BET – Dashing Dixie

Lurking at a big price could be Dashing Dixie. A dominant winner on debut, the manner of that victory was highly impressive and she could be capable to further improvement. Whilst that form is nothing to go off she is one of the least exposed in this field and she wouldn’t be entered into a contest like this if she wasn’t deemed good enough. She could be a player at a big price.

BEST BET – Well Written

For the bulk of punters, Well Written will be one of the bankers of they day and will be used in many multiples. Whilst we don’t often like to highlight such short priced favourites, her body of work is impossible to ignore. A winner of all four starts, which includes the Auckland Guineas, she is regarded as one of the best three year olds in training and should cement her class here.

THE DANGER – La Dorada

Whilst it is hard to look past the chances of Well Written, La Dorada could be a nice alternative. A winner of five of her nine starts, she was a good winner of the Levin Classic last time out and that is decent form that can’t be ignored.

VALUE BET – Lollapalooza

If results had fallen another way it could well have been Lollapalooza who would have started nearer the top of the market. A winner of the Gold Trail Stakes, she has also placed in numerous graded contests including the 1000 Guineas. She is a good horse and can’t be written off.

BEST BET – Alabama Lass

Despite a few disappointing runs of late, Alabama Lass is still expected to feature heavily in the betting for the Sistema Railway. Having finished well down the field in the Manikato Stakes last time out, he resumes after a four month break and connections will hope that the break has really freshened her up.

THE DANGER – Jigsaw

With multiple dangers in the field, Jigsaw is one to call out. A winner of his last three races, he arrives in superb form and could be ready to land his first Grade 1 success. Another returning to the track after an absence, if fit and ready he could be one of the better value options in the field.

VALUE BET – Crocetti

Crocetti is our long shot of the day and could well outrun his big odds. Representing superb connections, he has won twice at this grade and often finds himself firmly in the mix. The winner of this contest last year, his connections know what it takes to win this race and it wouldn’t be a shock to see him contend once more.
