Saturday Racing Tips - Kumara 10/01/26

A competitive card awaits at Kumara where nine open races look to provide plenty of value for punters.

Ahead of the first race we have run our eye through the card and picked out some of our best horse racing tips. As well as our exclusive tips we have highlighted three races which look to be the most competitive of the day. Whether you want to back a short priced favourite, or a horse at longer odds, read on as we have every angle covered.

Sunset Boulevard – 2.40

Bozo – 4.00

Shaking Stevens – 4.60

BEST BET – Sunset Boulevard

Sunset Boulevard is likely to jump off as the favourite for the eighth race of the day and will be trying to win his fourth consecutive race, whilst he faces plenty of opposition, the ground should be exactly to his liking, and another bold run can be expected.

THE DANGER – Bozo

Bozo is seeking a third straight victory and having won eight of his 31 starts, few would be surprised if he were to find himself in the winner’s circle. The only question mark is th3e ground. Whilst rain is expected, whether it will be soft enough for him to run to his very best, remains very much up in the air.

VALUE BET – Shaking Stevens

Whilst the front two in the market could be tough to stop, Shaking Stevens does represent some value. Also chasing a third straight victory, conditions should be right up his street and if he can get the run of the race, he could be hard to peg back.

BEST BET – Illicit Dreams

Illicit Dreams has a great chance to land a sixth race of her career. Hugely consistent, she boasts an impressive 64% place rate across her 33 starts, so backers should know that she usually gives her running. Although it’s been well over a year since she last won a race, she has competed in higher graded races than this in the past and this could be the occasion where she finally gets her head back in front.

THE DANGER – Express Coup

The main danger could lie in the form of Express Coup. A winner of almost a fifth race her starts, she was winner three starts ago but has been off the track since August. She usually runs at higher level races than this so if fit and firing, she will be a danger to entire field.

VALUE BET – Motiontime

Motiontime brings in recent winning form, following a victory last time out at Greymouth last week. Whilst that win came in the dying strides, similar tactics could work well here and if the pace collapses, she could well pick up the pieces.

Good Craic – 4.80

Recital – 15.00

BEST BET – Rubirosa

Rubirosa is declared on other races on the card, so there isn’t a guarantee that she turns up here and runs. However, wherever she pitches up, she is more than likely to run a big race. With two placed efforts in her three starts she is knocking on the door loudly and a race of this nature is firmly in her wheelhouse. She has bumped into good horses in defeat but she might just be the class here.

THE DANGER – Good Craic

Good Craic will have his followers, and this could finally be the day. A maiden after 28 starts is certainly a huge red flag but, in a field, where many are still finding their feet, his experience could prove valuable. Plenty will need to go right, but his chances can’t be ignored.

VALUE BET – Recital

With two placed efforts and two shockers in her four starts so far, it is hard to know what sort of horse Recital is. However, both of her poorer runs have come when the track has been heavy. Rain is expected but the ground should be on the softer side of good and that is when we have seen her at her best. A big run could happen and she could represent some real value.
