The best racing this Saturday in New Zealand comes from Otaki where the headline contest is the Group 3 Fastinternet.nz Spring Sprint.

In what is an interesting card, ahead of the first race we have run our eye through the card and picked out some of our best horse racing tips. BEST BET – Swiss Prince

In the first race of the day we are hoping the day gets off to a great start with Swiss Prince. Having just seen the track four times, a win is yet to come but he has come very close to breaking that sequence. With two second place efforts in his last three runs, this likes a golden opportunity for him to post a first success.

THE DANGER – Abbakiss

There are a couple of dangers that really stand out in this field and one of them is Abbakiss. Having placed at Listed level and having already poked his head in front, you could argue that he is slightly overpriced for a race of this nature. He is one worth considering.

VALUE BET – Belzoni

With only five runners in the race, unlocking value isn’t the easiest but Belzoni will be competitive. A winner on debut, he has then backed that up with third and second place efforts in each of his last two runs. He should be on the premises once again.

BEST BET – Spencer

In the feature race of the day we are taking a chance that Spencer can pull off the minor upset. Having won eight of his 25 starts, few in the field can boast that level of strike rate and with a win in his last start and a Group 3 victory, he has to be of serious interest.

THE DANGER – Electron

Electron is likely to start as the favourite for the race and with four wins from fifteen starts he must be respected. He has placed in this grade of race before but could be vulnerable at the top of the market.

VALUE BET – The Scunner

When it comes to our value bet for the race the play has to be on The Scunner. With two wins in his last two starts, nobody arrives in the race with such good winning form. This is a big step up in class but he looks to have a live chance.

BEST BET – Sacred Zed

Sacred Zed is likely to jump off as the favourite for the final race of the day, but much like the rest of the card, he could be vulnerable to an improver or a horse in form. He is yet to win in his last seven start but has placed third and second in his last two runs. He is trending in the right direction and will hope to post another victory here.

THE DANGER – Intoxicated

Intoxicated is one of the most consistent horses on the entire card. Although he has just won one of his eight starts, he has four second place efforts and was able to win last time out. Conditions should be perfect and another big run can be expected.

VALUE BET – Keepitinyourwallet

Our long shot of the day comes with Keepitinyourwallet. He has made just six starts in his career and after a slow start to his career, the penny seems to have dropped lately and he has been able to post a fourth, second and victory in his last three starts. This is a tough assignment, but he is thriving and could pull off the upset at a big price.
