Connections of Heavy is the Crown look to have found a golden opportunity for their horse to get off the mark. Having just made one start, he finished second on debut and brings a solid level of form into this six-runner contest. The one to beat, he looks like one of the best bets of the meeting.

THE DANGER – Turn it Up

The main danger for Heavy is the Crown is Turn it Up. A four-time maiden, she ran her best race to date last time out with a second-place effort at Awapuni four weeks ago. Whilst that form is nothing to shout about, she could well win this contest.

VALUE BET – Illustrious

Illustrious will be making his racecourse debut and wouldn’t have to be overly special to finish in the money. If looking to back one at a price he looks the best option.

BEST BET – Beauesk

Beauesk showed considerable improvement from his debut fourth to win last time out at New Plymouth Raceway five weeks ago. Still capable of improvement, he is likely to jump off as the favourites and could take some stopping.

THE DANGER – Jaegar

Jaegar has made one more start than Beauesk and could well have a major say in this race. With a second-place finish and a win in his last two starts, he arrives thriving and should give Beauesk plenty to think about.

VALUE BET – Sally

For those looking to back a horse at a price, Sally could be the play.

A winner of each of her last two starts, this represents a step up in class, but if those at the top of the market struggle, she could well, pick up the pieces.

In an open-looking race Belles Beau will have many followers. Hugely consistent he has four wins from ten starts and has placed on four other occasions. Whilst most of the field can win this, he looks the safest option.

THE DANGER – Belardo Boy

No horse in the field has won as much as Belardo Boy and the six-year-old will hope to serve it up too his younger rivals here. A winner of eleven races, he comes into this race fresh off the back of a win and his experience could prove vital in this tight looking affair.

VALUE BET – Sinbin

Our roughie of the day is Sinbin. A winner of his last two races, he arrives in the form of his life and at a double figure price could be overpriced. He needs another career best here, but can’t be discounted.
